A Dorchester, MA man is arrested after Agents seize 1.4-ounces Crack Cocaine
[Biddeford], April 24, 2009 - Roy E. McKinney, Director of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, and Stephen Borst, Special Agent Supervisor of the MDEA’s York District Task Force serving York County, announced the arrest of HERIBERTO ‘RICO’ CEDENO (21) of Dorchester, MA.
The MDEA has been investigating CEDENO after receiving information from several sources that he was importing substantial amounts of Crack Cocaine to the Biddeford area from the greater Boston, Massachusetts area for sale. After a month long investigation, that included surveillance and purchases of crack from CEDENO, Agents and Biddeford Police arrested CEDENO in a parking lot off of Alfred Street (Route 111) in Biddeford yesterday shortly after 3PM. At the time of the arrest, CEDENO was in possession of approximately 40-grams (1.4-ounces) of crack cocaine with a street value of $4,000 and over $500 USC.
CEDENO is charged with Aggravated Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Crack Cocaine), a Class A crime. CEDENO was transported to the York County Jail on $10,000 cash bail and is scheduled for arraignment this afternoon in Biddeford.
Also charged in the case with Aggravated Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs is CARLOS MELENDEZ, of Dorchester, MA. The investigation revealed that MELENDEZ was on probation in Massachusetts for drug trafficking. Massachusetts authorities requested that he self-report. MELENDEZ was arrested with CEDENO and was released on a court summons.
The investigation was conducted with the assistance of the Biddeford Police Department. Biddeford PD, Saco PD, Sanford PD and Wells PD have officers assigned to the MDEA York DTF.
