EXPECTED 2013-2014 RULE-MAKING ACTIVITY:

CHAPTER 1: Rules of State Board of Professional Engineers

STATUTORY BASIS: 32 MRSA §1306(2)

PURPOSE: This chapter will be rescinded and replaced. The Rule will be divided into six smaller chapters, rather than two, to make information more accessible. Definitions are added to clarify language. Punctuation and spelling errors are corrected. Excess and redundant language is eliminated. Substantive changes include: clarifying the application and licensure process; changes related to the examination procedure caused by the passage of LD-1313, relating to the change of national exams to a computer-based model; clarifying when the professional engineer seal should be applied and the exemptions when it does not need to be applied; requiring notification to the Board of address change or of criminal conviction; clarifying language regarding the required Professional Development Hours and required recordkeeping; revisions to the wording of the Code of Ethics to clarify meaning.

SCHEDULE FOR ADOPTION: Rule changes are being developed and expect to be completed by January 31, 2014
