Mount Salus- Clinton’s original name, meaning mountain of health, since it was built near a large, flowing spring
Springs- An important feature of the land in Clinton that provided good drinking water
Mississippi College- the oldest senior college in the state of Mississippi formerly known as Hampstead Academy
DeWitt Clinton- former governor of New York in which the city of Clinton was named after
Choctaw- Native American people originally from the Southeastern United States who resided in Clinton
Community- A place where people live, work, and have fun together
Citizen- Someone who is a member of community or country
Volunteer- someone who works without pay
