Teaching Assistant and Researcher; January 2004 to July 2007.

Ryerson University, Toronto, Ontario, Canada;

As a researcher, I evaluated the effectiveness of the foam core in providing composite action in SIPs under axial and bending loads to meet both the strength and serviceability requirements. I created an experimental program to study on the structural behavior of insulated sandwich foam-timber panels under combined axial compression and bending. The experimental program included testing 32 full-size panels to collapse at the Structures Laboratory of Ryerson University. The data generated from this extensive experimental program has been used to determine the load carrying capacity of the SIP walls when subjected to axial compressive loading or combined axial compressive loading and bending moment. I used the results of the experimental program to produce design tables of such SIP walls that can be used by design engineers, contractors and code writers, with possible implementation in the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) as well as the Ontario Building Code (OBC). The results of my research and the results of other researchers who worked in your team convinced me that the short and long term performance of these panels as roofs and floors in low-residential construction is acceptable.

As a TA (Teaching Assistant), I was teaching different engineering courses (e.g., foundation engineering, structural engineering...etc) for undergraduate students.
