Halter – The halter class is a class where the horse is judged based upon its conformation, overall appearance, and usefulness. Conformation is defined as the physical appearance of a horse due to the arrangement of muscle, bone, and other body tissues, gaits, manners, and conformation
Ground Driving In Hand: A horse is driven without a cart by a handler walking behind or behind and to the side of the animal. This technique is used in the early stages of training horses for riding as well as for driving. The driver is on foot and will maintain at least a six foot space from the horse’s rear legs at all times for safety. 3. A surcingle, harness, or saddle may be used through which the driving lines will pass. Lines may be leather, rope, or nylon without chains. The lines must not be connected together and need to be 25 feet long. (Long enough to allow 6ft between horse and driver.) The Exhibitor may be asked to drive the equine through a series of obstacles or a pattern that are determined by the judge, and will be posted the day of the show.

they travel the perimeter of the arena performing gait changes at the judge’s discretion. Emphasis is placed on ability to sit
correctly, hold the correct riding posture and control the horse. (This is a rail only class.)
ENGLISH (HUNTSEAT) EQUITATION – PATTERN ONLY – Tests on the ability to ride–not the performance of the horse. Contestants
work a predetermined pattern consisting of maneuvers such as changing gaits; travel in a circle to the left or right; backing up
as well as posting on correct diagonal and counter-cantering. Emphasis is placed on ability to sit correctly, hold the correct
riding posture and control the horse on a precise pattern. This is a pattern only class. No rail work to be performed.
ENGLISH PLEASURE – Open to hunt seat or saddle seat styles, The horse is usually ridden on contact with the rein, and the
horse is penalized if it must be ridden on strong contact, gapes its mouth, does not respond willingly to light aids, or does not
travel in balance. The horse should move straight, with a steady rhythm and a free and flowing stride. The horse should not
come behind the bit, or travel too fast. To be shown at a walk trot, extended trot and canter. Judge has discretion to ask for a
halt on the rail and/or back in the line-up.
HUNTER UNDER SADDLE: The preliminary class for English riding disciplines, and judges evaluate the way of going of a hunter-type horse
on the flat, at a walk, trot and canter. Horses circle the perimeter of the arena, performing each gait called at the judge's discretion.
WESTERN PLEASURE – Judging the horse on manners and suitability of the horse for a relaxed but collected gait cadence
and relatively slow speed of gait, along with calm and responsive disposition. The horse is to appear to be a "pleasure" to ride
and very comfortable, while being very smooth. Judge at his/her discretion can ask for the horses to halt on the rail and/or
back in the line-up.
WESTERN (STOCKSEAT) EQUITATION – Designed to test the horsemanship abilities of riders using western tack. Riders work around
the perimeter of the arena performing gait changes at the judge’s discretion. Judging focuses on the rider’s body position, seat
in the saddle and ability to control the horse. (This is a rail only class.)
WESTERN (STOCKSEAT)- PATTERN ONLY - Designed to test the horsemanship abilities of riders using western
tack. Riders must follow a prescribed pattern of maneuvers at a walk, trot or lope. Judging focuses on the rider’s body position,
seat in the saddle and ability to control the horse. This is a pattern only class. No rail work to be performed. Patterns posted on
the Club website or a Pattern Book can be purchased in the Show Office. It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to know the pattern
before entering the show arena.
DISCIPLINED RAIL/COMMAND CLASS - Open – This is not a pleasure rail class. This class is to show the ability of a
