2016 BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU INTEGRITY SCHOLARSHIPS

Better Business Bureau is offering Student of Integrity Scholarships for Minnesota and North Dakota high school students beginning their senior year. These scholarships are designed to recognize and promote ethics and integrity among young people, and will be awarded to students who demonstrate high character in their personal choices and actions.There are five scholarships available – one for $4,500, three for $2,500 and one for $1,000.
Students are asked to write an essay or create a video that gives a personal example of how they were challenged or struggled through a difficult situation and how they overcame the situation by the application of integrity and personal ethics. This must be accompanied by the scholarship entry form, one letter of recommendation, a copy of their high school transcript, a list of extracurricular activities and any post-secondary education plans. All entries must be received by Thursday, September 22, by 4:30pm.

ND Notice of Apprenticeship-ND Construction Craft Laborers'

Apprentices need to be 18 years old and physically able to perform the work. Apprentices upon beginning work must become a member of and maintain membership in good standing in the Laborers International Union pursuant to the governing Collective Bargaining Agreement. This program helps students reliably earn in-state tuition at universities all over the country. In-State-Angels have saved students over 4.25 million dollars in tuition since 2011. This community action program is a special savings program for limited income families and individuals. Applicants must be employed, have a present and past employment history and meet the income guidelines. This savings results in a dollar saved is two dollars earned. SHEET METAL WORKER'S CONSOLIDATED JOINT APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

QUESTBRIDGE

Seniors with high academic achievement who live in households with income of less than $60,000 and limited assets are eligible to apply. Specific eligibility for students includes that they must be in the top 5 - 10% of their class, have a score above a 27 on their ACT, must be in the 1st generation in their family going to college and are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. University/College Freshman Scholarships

Seniors - During the application process to the college/university that you want to attend, make sure that you do the online or paper applications for the freshman scholarships. Oftentimes, you can get large scholarships that are renewable to the school you are attending.

Alert Magazine

Seniors with a GPA of 2.5 who are planning to attend college are eligible to apply. There is no application or deadline with this $500 scholarship. Write a 650-800 word essay about a personal encounter you or someone you know has had with drug and/or alcohol abuse. Discuss how it was dealt with, what was learned and what was right or wrong with the way the incident or problem was handled. Essays must include transcripts, a photo and be typed with double-spacing. Mail all information to:

Generation Ali Global Citizenship Scholarship

The Generation Ali Global Citizenship Scholarship Program, sponsored by The Muhammad Ali Center, is offering scholarships inspired by Muhammad Ali’s six core principles: Confidence, Conviction, Dedication, Giving, Respect, and Spirituality. This scholarship program encourages the pursuit of greatness through education.

The program is open to high school seniors or graduates or post-secondary students. Students outside the United States must be in their final year of upper or higher secondary school or be a current undergraduate student attending school in the United States. Students must plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the United States for the entire 2014-2015 academic year.

SHEET METAL WORKER APPRENTICESHIP

BOILERMAKERS APPRENTICESHIP

The Great Lakes Area Boilermakers Apprenticeship Program applications are being accepted in a number of locations. The third Tuesday of every month from 9:00AM to 11:00AM applications are being accepted at Local #647, 3400 42nd Street, NW, Mandan, ND 58554. Contact any counselor for other dates and locations in Fargo, South Dakota and Minnesota. Applicants who have a welding certification or welding training qualifications will have priority selection over applicants with no welding qualifications. Applicants must provide a copy and proof of welding certification or welding training qualification at the time of application.

NDSCS-Educating the Electrical Industry

This year our department has about $50,000 in scholarships for those interested in pursuing a career in the electrical industry. In addition, they have $10,000 in available scholarships thru STEMS. Career Power-Up with IEC

This is a four year electrical apprenticeship recognized by U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship Program and Training. You can become a journeyman electrician and earn college credits. IEC-Dakotas offers classroom and online training. This training will open the door for multiple possibilities for you in the electrical field. Stop in with any counselor for a sign-up card.

United Technologies Aerosplace Systems Tuition Sharing/Reimbursement Program

This program is open to 1st or 2nd year students that attend a 2-year accredited Machinist Training program. Students must apply for consideration to be enrolled in the UTC program. Upon completion of the program, students need to work for UTC for a minimum of three years. For more information and to pick up an application stop in with any counselor. Reimbursement for this program is $5,000 per year (max of two). Sign-on bonus and one year successful employment bonus is also $5,000 each.

Dakotas JATC-

ThinkBIG Program

Butler Machinery Company is offering PAID Work Experience for High School Students. Looking for future Diesel Technicians to start in the ThinkBIG program. This 2-year college degree program is offered in conjunction with NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND or Lake Area Tech in Watertown, SD. Students who are accepted are guaranteed a job with Butler Machinery following college graduation. These students get paid for internships during the course of their schooling at $17.00/hour.
