Invitation Regatta under British Rowing Rules
Official programme£1
The members of Maidenhead Rowing Club and the Committee of the Maidenhead Junior Regatta are delighted to welcome all competitors, coaches and spectators to the regatta today.
Our aim for this invitation regatta is to provide a fun day’s racing for juniors who may be younger or less experienced than is catered for at most regattas.
Racing will follow the same pattern as in previous years. All events are for coxed quad sculls in the J12-15 age ranges and J16 in double sculls. There are two ability categories for crews at each age group up to J15:-
- Junior A: for crews who have some racing experience, but with limited success;
- Junior B: for crews who are new to rowing in the last twelve months, or who are recreational rowers who would not normally enter open competitions
At J16 there is a single category combining the two categories in the lower age groups.
A repechage draw is used for all events. This enables crews that lose their first race to re-enter the draw and to have a second chance to race.
To help keep to the repechage timetable, we ask that all crews boat in good time before each race, allowing at least 20 minutes to get boated and to the start area. Marshals will help crews to go afloat with their opponents so that waiting is kept to a minimum.
Whilst this is an Invitation Regatta, it is run under full British Rowing Rules of Racing. We are grateful to British Rowing for several concessions for this event, including an increased number of clubs that can be included whilst remaining as an Invitation Event and relaxation of Kit rules.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The Committee wishes to record its appreciation for the assistance given so readily by many people; in particular, for being allowed the use of the car park in Mill Lane, all the help given by members of Maidenhead Rowing Club and the parents of the Club’s juniors. The Regatta is dependent on the hard work from all these people, without whom it could not go ahead.
To the large body of visiting officials and helpers, both from Maidenhead Rowing Club and others, who devote much of their time during the year and especially during the week of the Regatta, the Committee expresses its warmest thanks.

She quickly joined the British rowing team, where a group including a young Katherine Grainger was starting to put British women's rowing on the map. Olympic bronze in Athens was followed by a move into the top boat, the quad, where she became double world champion in 2005 and 2006.
