MINUTES

August 6, 2014

CALL TO ORDER:

John Wieczorek called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm at the Mahoning Township Building 2685 Mahoning Drive East, Lehighton, PA 18235

PRESENT:

John Wieczorek; Chairman; Franklin Ruch, Vice-Chairman (arrived 6:02); Kerry Verrastro, Supervisor; Shawn Haggerty, Supervisor; Thomas Nanovic, Solicitor and Natalie D. Haggerty, Secretary-Treasurer

ABSENT:

Bruce Steigerwalt, Supervisor

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

MOTION

John Wieczorek made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 2, 2014 Board of Supervisors Meeting. Seconded by Shawn Haggerty. Shawn Haggerty, yes; John Wieczorek, yes; Franklin Ruch, abstain and Kerry Verrastro 3-0 vote. Motion carried.

MOTION

John Wieczorek made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 2, 2014 Board of Supervisors Workshop Meeting. Seconded by Shawn Haggerty. Shawn Haggerty, yes; John Wieczorek, yes; Kerry Verrastro, yes Franklin Ruch, abstain 3-0 vote. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF TREASURERS REPORT: July 2014

MOTION

John Wieczorek made a motion to approve the Treasurers Report for July 2014. Seconded Kerry Verrastro. John Wieczorek, yes; Kerry Verrastro, yes; Franklin Ruch, abstain and Shawn Haggerty, yes 3-0 vote. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF TRANFERS:

MOTION

John Wieczorek made a motion to approve the following transfer:

$537.97 Residential Street Light Money Market to General Checking

$1,190.40 Residential Fire Hydrant Money Market to General Checking

NEW BUSINESS:

Summit Ridge Re-Subdivision 60 Day Extension Request (August 28, 2014 Expiration)

John Wieczorek made a motion to grant Summit Ridge Re-Subdivision a 60 day extension of time. Seconded by Shawn Haggerty. John Wieczorek, yes; Kerry Verrastro, yes; Shawn Haggerty, yes and Franklin Ruch, yes 4-0 vote. Motion carried.

Gary Kuehner, 1508 Beaver Run Drive Lehighton (Building a new home on same parcel as current residence. Requesting permission to build on parcel and will tear down current home within six months of the completion of the new house).

John Wieczorek made a motion to grant Gary Kuehner 1508 Beaver Run Drive permission to build with the condition of tearing down old home within six months of completion of new home. Seconded by Kerry Verrastro. John Wieczorek, yes; Shawn Haggerty, yes; Kerry Verrastro, yes and Franklin Ruch, yes. 4-0 vote. Motion carried.

Lorraine Reinstein, 1012 Oak Grove Drive Refund of Mahoning Township Real Estate Tax in the amount of $106.77. (Fire, reduction in assessment value)

Franklin Ruch made a motion to grant real estate refund in the amount of $106.77 to Lorraine Reinstein. Seconded by Shawn Haggerty. John Wieczorek, yes; Kerry Verrastro, yes; Shawn Haggerty, yes and Franklin Ruch, yes. 4-0 vote. Motion carried.

Recommendation to hire Barbara Kester as part time clerk. (Hourly rate of $13.50/hr., conditioned upon criminal background check) Dianna McCarroll as alternate.

John Wieczorek made motion to hire Barbara Kester as township clerk at a rate of $13.50/hr. part time, conditioned upon criminal background check, Dianna McCarroll as an alternate. Seconded by Shawn Haggerty. John Wieczorek, yes; Kerry Verrastro, yes, Shawn Haggerty,yes and Franklin Ruch, no. 3-1 vote. Motion carried.
