REMAINING REHEARSAL DATES

Last night’s rehearsal venue was very cold and not very encouraging to our singing so we are moving rehearsals to Alveston Methodist Church, Greenhill Road, Alveston BS35 3RA. The initial hope was that we would get around 100 singers for Choir I but as we only have half that number we will be very comfortable in the Methodist Church. Last night’s rehearsal went very well despite the cold!

This affects the following rehearsals:-

Jan 31; Feb 7, 14; Mar 7, 14

All other rehearsals will be as specified in Newsletter No. 1 with the venue for the Sunday March 17th rehearsal still to be fixed upon. You will be notified of this as soon as the information becomes available.

DIRECTIONS TO ALVESTON METHODIST CHURCH

From the south, A38; as you approach Alveston and pass the village sign look for St Helen’s Church with a tall tower on the left of the road (very obvious). Slow down and turn left just after the church, go through a traffic chicane (your right of way) and proceed along Greenhill Road for about 400 yards. Alveston Methodist Church is on the corner of the second turn to the left – take this left turn and almost immediately go left up the driveway to the church and park in front OR on Greenhill Road or on Wolfridge Ride, the road you turned left into.

From the north, exit J14 of the M5, turn right to the junction with the A38, and turn left onto A38. In 1.6 miles, after Falfield go through the first set of traffic lights and at the second set go through them and pull in to the right hand lane by Alveston House Hotel. Turn in to David’s Lane, proceed to the T junction with Greenhill Road, turn left and immediately right and you are in Wolfridge Ride with the Methodist Church on your left. Park as above.

WORKSHOP

There will be an all day Workshop at Thornbury Baptist Church, Gillingstool, Thornbury BS35 2EG on:

DIRECTIONS TO THORNBURY BAPTIST CHURCH

From the south: turn off the A38 at the Alveston traffic lights and go down the hill towards Thornbury. Turn right at the first roundabout and go straight on (i.e. do not go to Tesco!). At the second roundabout turn left and in 200 yards turn right to the main Thornbury long stay car park. Thornbury Baptist Church is opposite the bottom end of the car park on the other side of the road.

From the north, exit J14 of the M5, turn right to the junction with A38, and turn left onto A38. In 1.6

miles, after Falfield turn right at the B4061 and continue into Thornbury centre and at a small roundabout, turn left and follow the road (passing traffic lights) and in 50 yards from the lights turn left into the car park. Proceed to the bottom of the car park and Thornbury Baptist Church is opposite the bottom end of the car park on the other side of the road.

COMBINED REHEARSALS

There will be a Choral Rehearsal on Sunday March 17th in Bristol 10.00 am - 4.00pm (venue to be decided) and a rehearsal with orchestra on Wednesday March 20th in the Great Hall of Bristol Grammar School as well as a pre-concert rehearsal in the Colston Hall on Sunday March 24th

The Thornbury rehearsals will be simply catered with juice available at Alveston Methodist Church rehearsals. Coffee, tea, juice and biscuits will be available at the Saturday Thornbury rehearsal. Singers should bring their own sandwiches for this. We will not be doing lunches.
