MAGOFFIN COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP
A fund within Magoffin County Community Foundation,
a component fund of Blue Grass Community Foundation
History of the Fund – The fund was established in 2002 by Scotty Patrick, who also established the Buck and Lillie May Patrick Memorial Fund.
Purpose of the Fund – Provide awards of $1,000 each to ten graduating seniors from Magoffin County High School. Awards are not renewable.
Criteria
· Must be graduating seniors at Magoffin County High School
· Must have a GPA of 3.0
· Plan to attend an accredited, four-year college in Kentucky.
· Be active in school and community.
· Financial need may be a consideration.
Process
· Magoffin County High School students fill out an application, provide transcripts, and write a 1 page essay.
· The Magoffin County Scholarship Committee chooses recipients and sends Blue Grass Community Foundation the recipient’s full names and legal addresses.
· The Foundation prepares an award letter and forwards it to the high school for presentation. Committee members may make the presentation.
· Scholarship is paid to students in July after they have provided the Foundation with proof of enrollment in college.

How do I qualify for this scholarship?
This scholarship is open to high school seniors attending Magoffin County High School who are active in the school and community, have financial need and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

*A Student Aid Report (SAR) is a document students receive after their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is processed. FAFSA forms may be filled out online. To learn more about the FAFSA and the SAR go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Incomplete applications will not be considered
Applicants will be notified by mid-May. Awards will be paid to recipients’ colleges in July after recipients send proof of enrollment in college to Blue Grass Community Foundation.
