Article I: Name

Iowa State University Fantasy Sports Club

Article II: Purpose

The Iowa State University Fantasy Sports Club is to provide students the chance to meet and discuss fantasy sports related news with one another. The members of the ISU Fantasy Sports Club will be required to abide by all university rules and regulations. The ISU Fantasy Sports Club does not endorse gambling and ISU Fantasy Sports Club members will not gamble as a club or allow gambling at any of its events or activities. Any club member caught gambling at a club event or activity will have its membership revoked by the club.

Article III: Statement of Compliance

ISU Fantasy Sports Club abides by and supports established Iowa State University policies, State and Federal Laws and follows local ordinances and regulations. ISU Fantasy Sports Club agrees to annually complete President’s Training, Treasurer’s Training and Adviser Training (if required).

Article IV: Non-Discrimination Statement

Iowa State University and ISU Fantasy Sports Club do not discriminate on the basis of genetic information, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, race, ethnicity, sex, color, religion, national origin, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or status as a U.S Veteran

Article V: Membership

Membership is open to all Iowa State University students in good standing with the university.

Article VI: Risk Management

The role of the risk management officer is to:

A) Help minimize potential risks for club activities.

B) Recommend risk management policies or procedures to ISU Fantasy Sports Club.

C) To submit documentation to ISU’s Risk Management Office.

D) To ensure that Iowa State University policies are followed at all of the organization’s events.

E) To ensure that proper waivers and background checks are on file with Risk Management for events.

Article VII: Officers

Officer Duties and Terms

President- The President shall be the chief executive of the club and of the Executive Board and shall preside over all meetings of the club and the Executive Board. He/She shall manage and organize all meetings within the ISU Fantasy Sports Club.

Vice President- The Vice President shall preside in the absence of the President and assist the President in official duties of the ISU Fantasy Sports Club.

Secretary- The Secretary shall keep an accurate record of meetings and correspond between the club and officer. He/She should post notices for the members of the club and the officers.

Treasurer- The Treasurer shall collect and receive all dues, fees and other monies due to the club. He/She shall deposit the money collected in the name of the club, in the club’s Iowa State University student activities account. He/She shall properly care for such moneys, and with authorization, can disburse them to meet the obligations of the club. He/She shall keep accurate records of the account(s) and at each annual meeting render an itemized statement.

All officers will serve for one year and are eligible for re-election

Elections

A)  Elections shall be voted based on ballot, with a 2/3 majority winning the position.

B)  Elections shall occur during the week before Spring Break.

C)  All current members are eligible to run for election.

D)  All potential officers must give an informal speech if running for election.

E)  The newly elected officials will then shadow the current ones from Spring Break until end of the semester.

Impeachment/Resignation

If an officer is impeached or resigns the next person in line would then take over their duties, i.e. VP steps in for President and so on. A reason for impeachment could be any action that damages Iowa State University or ISU Fantasy Sports Club. If an action like this occurs the club may vote for an impeachment of the selected official/advisor in which a ¾ vote in favor must occur for an impeachment. In the case of either and impeachment or resignation an election would be held to determine who fills a position since there would be an open spot. This would be a balloted, majority wins election. If an advisor resigns or is impeached it will be the job of the President to select the new advisor.

Minimum GPA for Officers

A) Be in good standing with the university and enrolled: at least half time (six or more credit hours), if an undergraduate student (unless fewer credits are required to graduate in the spring and fall semesters) during the term of office, and at least half time (four or more credits), if a graduate level student (unless fewer credits are required in the final stages of their degree as defined by the Continuous Registration Requirement) during their term of office.

B) Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) as stated below and meet that minimum GPA in the semester immediately prior to the election/appointment, the semester of election/appointment and semesters during the term of office. For undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, the minimum GPA is 2.00. In order for this provision to be met, at least six hours (half-time credits) must have been taken for the semester under consideration.

C) Be ineligible to hold an office should the student fail to maintain the requirements as prescribed in (a) and (b)

Article VIII: Adviser

The Faculty Advisor(s) shall be the official representative between the club and the present University. He/She shall advise the officers and help with contact between the club and the University. Other duties shall consist of authorizing financial decisions and monitoring members’ academic standing.

The Advisor was selected when the club was formed and will remain the advisor for their tenure at Iowa State University. When the advisor decides to resign the officers will nominate a new advisor and vote after resignation.

Article IX: Finances

All monies belonging to this organization shall be deposited and disbursed through a bank account established for this organization at the Campus Organizations Accounting Office and/or approved institution/office (must receive authorization via Campus Organizations Accounting Office). All funds must be deposited within 48 hours after collection. The Adviser to this organization must approve and sign each expenditure before payment."

Description of dues—“constitutions must state that dues will not exceed $20.

Article X: Amendments

A)  All Amendments are to be brought to the club meetings with proposals

B)  Amendments must be submitted 10 days prior to vote

C)  All amendments will be voted on by the entire club at a general meeting, and it must pass with 66 percent of the vote.

i.  After discussion by the officers there is a secondary vote within the Officers Cabinet

D)  Ratification

i.  66 percent of all voting club members is needed to ratify this constitution.

ii.  After constitution is ratified, there are 10 days to submit changes.
