MAGICAL MYSTERY LITERARY HISTORY TOUR

Itinerary

Day 1 – Depart for Prague. Appropriate in flight dining.

Day 2 – Arrive at Prague’s Ruzyne International Airport. Once you clear immigration and customs with your luggage look for the MAGICAL MYSTERY LITERARY HISTORY TOUR sign in the arrival hall. Once met you are taken to waiting transportation for your short ride to the Hotel Casa Edith Stein. Your home for the next three nights. This evening we will gather for a welcome reception dinner and briefing.

Day 3 – After breakfast at the hotel, we depart by motor coach for an overview of the city, conducted by a local guide. Kafka was born, educated, and resided most of his life within the borders of Prague’s Old Town. From House 22 on Golden Lane, to the Castle, to the Charles Bridge, we visit many sites where he lived and worked. We also spend time at the Old Jewish Cemetery. This evening you are on your own to attend a concert or enjoy the nightlife of Prague. We will be happy to assist you in setting up the details.

Day 4 – Following breakfast at the hotel we continue our exploration of Kafka’s Prague. After visiting Kafka’s gravesite and Pinkaus Synagogue, we travel to the Kafka Museum for a private tour. The late afternoon and evening are at leisure to explore on your own.

Day 5 – After breakfast we depart for the brief transfer to the train station for our journey to Krakow. We have a picnic lunch on board as the pastoral countryside rolls by until our arrival in the afternoon. After checking in to our hotel, The RT Regent, we meet for an orientation tour and dinner on the Old Town Square.

Day 6 – Once we have finished breakfast it is time to explore with a local expert the old Jewish quarter, Wavel Castle, and the old town square. In the afternoon we have a private tour of the Galicia Jewish Museum. This evening enjoy an enriching Kafka Project event and later revel in this cultural capital of Poland.

Day 7 – Still time for breakfast, but it is an early day as we travel for a morning tour the castle town of Bedzin, where Dora grew up. We continue on to Wroclaw– where Dora lived before Berlin. After lunch, and some exploring, we board our deluxe motor coach for the transfer to Berlin. In the afternoon we check in to The Hongimond Hotel. We have some time explore this exciting capital city before dinner.

Day 8 – After we finish the morning buffet, we travel with a local expert to the sites of Kafka and Dora’s Berlin including Steglitz, Zehlendorf and the Botanical Gardens. The afternoon and evening are free for exploration and cultural endeavors.

Day 9 – Following breakfast at the hotelwe have an insider’s tour of exciting Berlin including the new Reichstag, the Berlin Jewish Museum, and the new Holocaust memorial near the Brandenburg Tor. This evening we gather for a gala farewell dinner.

Day 10 – Unless you have made other plans, after breakfast it is time for a transfer to the airport for our flight home.
