Job Title: Communications and FundraisingManager

  1. JOB SUMMARY

Develop and finalise Imagine’s overall Fundraising Strategy and take responsibility for the delivery of the agreed Strategy and ensure all fundraising activities are in accordance with that Strategy and the Marketing and Communications Strategy.

Lead, manage, support, motivate and develop the fundraising team to ensure agreed targets are met and drive the growth of all sources of fundraising income, both digital and traditional. Ensure compliance with the Fundraising Code of Practice, the Data Protection Act (General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) from May 2018) and other regulatory compliance such as Health and Safety.

  1. LOCATION

The post holder will be based at Head Office at Hope Street, Liverpool but will be expected to support local fundraising initiatives in our services across the North West and London.

  1. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The post has direct supervisory responsibility for the Communications and Fundraising Team which comprises the Head of Communicationsand, currently, three interns. This structure is subject to review.

  1. MAIN DUTIES

a)FundraisingTeam & Internal relationships:

Following consultation with appropriate stakeholders, develop and obtain approval for an overall Fundraising Strategy for Imagine.

Ensure the structure for the Fundraising Team is fit for purpose and reviewed as needed

Lead, manage, support, motivate and develop the Fundraising Team (individuals and as a team) in order to guarantee achievement of all fundraising objectives, targets and overall fundraising strategy

Encourage collaborative working, openness, positive attitudes, mutual understanding and a strong work ethic to maximise the effectiveness of the fundraising team; ensure adherence to financial procedures

Introduce best practice procedures, work flow in all areas of responsibilityand set fundraising standards

Maintain an awareness of all Imagine services to identify fundraising opportunities appropriate to the needs of the Charity, corporately and locally; maintain positive working environment and cross team working

Establish an effective performance management framework for Fundraising, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and presenting reports for Senior Management, Audit committee and Trustees

Inspire staff, volunteers and trustees of Imaginetoensure income opportunities are maximised.

b)Fundraising:

Take responsibility for the delivery of the agreed Fundraising Strategy incorporating regular giving/support, events and grants and trust funds to ensure long term growth and sustainability.

Ensure all fundraising activities include actions which reflect the Marketing and Communications Strategy.

Set, deliver and monitor annual fundraising plans and budgets, effectively managing resources to maximise income, minimise costs and ensure a good return on investment.

Work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure budgets, targets and forecasts are realistic and in accordance with agreed strategy. Compile relevant elements of the annual budgets and ensure that income and expenditure are monitored to ensure early indications of deviations from budget

Ensure all main fundraising programmes have a cost benefit analysis and a budgeted plan.

Oversee the production of the fundraising publications including leaflets, newsletters and marketing materials including fundraising presence on the website and in social media.

Develop and implement strategies to inform and engage with the public in local communities to stimulate active contributions and an increased donor base.

Become the voice of Imagine’s Fundraising team and be visible in local communities; act as a passionate Ambassador for Imagine, raising the profile and inspiring others to want to be keen supporters.

Develop ways of engaging supporters/donors and maintaining that engagement in collaboration with fundraising and operational colleagues.

Ensure effective stewardship of donors encouraging long term loyalty. Ensure they are welcomed (if new), thanked, informed about how their donation helps Imagine, kept up to date with developments and made to feel an important part of the Charity; subject to the requirements of GDPR.

Develop Imagine’s organisational ability for public fundraising together with fundraising colleagues. Consider database, infrastructure, banking, digital, welcome journeys, retention and resource requirements.

Oversee the development and maintenance of relationships with key media contacts across a range of different media, acting as a spokesperson and representative of the Charity as required.

Identify and maximise PR opportunities for fundraising, generating news stories to stimulate public involvement using all modes of communication including social media;

Support all fundraising activities with a strong digitally-driven donor experience whilst enabling traditional face to face methods of engagement where required. Maximise online/electronic donation opportunities, developing the use of IT, website, mobile communications and social media in fundraising.

Manage Trust Fund and donor research, identifying new funding opportunities ensuring Imagine is able to present a compelling case for support and demonstration of impact.

Lead on compliance, ensuring a legal and ethical approach to fundraisingcompatible with Imagine’s ethos as professional, caring and progressive organisation;and that corporate and local service managers and teams take responsibility to implement and fulfil all required standards in accordance with the Fundraising Code of Practice and the Data Protection Act (GDPR from May 2018).

c)Governance and Quality Assurance

Ensure compliance with the Fundraising Regulator Code of Fundraising Practice, the Data Protection Act (General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) from May 2018) and Information Governance

Ensure fundraising guidance is created, reviewed and kept up to date to ensure supporters operating in aid of, or on behalf of Imagine are provided with up to date knowledge of legislation, Health and Safety and relevant policies and procedures.

Ensure standard operating procedures are developed and maintained for all relevant fundraising activities and are delivered to a consistency high quality, to time and within overall resources made available

Represent Imagine in a professional and appropriate manner at all times

Keep up to date with current charity legislation and regulation relating to fundraising activities.

d)Communication

Review and develop the current Marketing and Communications Strategy

Support the development of the Charity’s website, with relevant partners, and the relevant policies for appropriate use of social media;

  • Understanding of the principles and purposes of a Fundraising Strategy
  • Understanding of the principles and purposes of a Marketing and Communications Strategy
  • Experience of cross collaboration working with other team members and external consultancy where necessary
