Magic Valley 13-15 Babe Ruth League Rules 2010

Game Rules

1. Pitching Rules – A pitcher may not pitch more than 4 innings in any game. One pitch constitutes an inning. A pitcher may not pitch more than 7 innings per calendar week. Violations will result in forfeited games.

2. Extra Hitter Rule – A coach may choose to bat an extra hitter if he has at least 10 eligible players present for a game. This does not count towards a player's playing time. (See rule #3).

3. Playing Time – All eligible players present at the start of a game must play a minimum of 3 innings. Teams may play with 8 players, but will be assessed an automatic out when 9th spot in the batting order is reached.

4. Complete Games – All games will have a 2 hour time limit once 5 innings have been completed. All games will be scheduled for 7 innings. A game is considered complete if 5 innings have been completed at the time limit. (4 1/2 innings if the home team is ahead). Double-header games will be subject to the time limit regardless of the number of innings completed, but must finish the inning in progress at the time limit expiration. For purposes of the time limit, an inning “begins” the moment the last out is made in the previous inning.

5. Run Rules – A team may score no more than ten runs in one inning. A game will be considered complete if one team has a lead of ten or more runs after 5 innings. (4 1/2 innings if the home team is ahead).

6. Host Site Teams – All host site teams will be the home team and will be responsible for providing the field prep, game balls, umpires, and the official scorekeeper for all the games that they are hosting.

7. Player or Coach Ejections – Any player or coach, ejected from a game, will serve a mandatory 1 game suspension. In the event of a second ejection, said player or coach will serve a mandatory 3 game suspension. In the event of a third ejection, said player or coach will be suspended for the remainder of the league season. All teams will display good sportsmanship toward their opponents, umpires, and spectators. Teams failing to display good sportsmanship will be subject to the above penalties, if necessary.

8. Local Field Rules- All visiting teams will respect and comply with any field rules of the host team. Examples: Any coach, whose team is in the field, must remain in the dugout during game play, unless timeout is granted by the umpire; coaches or players must wear a protective mask if kneeling while warming up a pitcher; and any other field ground rules. These items should all be discussed at the pregame meeting between coaches, players, and umpires.
