In conjunction with the point system, the following discipline procedure will be used for violations of the student code of conduct:
DAEP VIOLATIONS RESULTING IN LOSS OF EARNED DAY AND/OR ADDITIONAL DAYS ADDED TO PLACEMENT. THIS LIST IS NOT ALL INCLUSIVE. RATHER, IT SERVES AS EXAMPLES FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS TO UNDERSTAND WHAT TYPES OF BEHAVIOR ARE NOT PERMITTED AT DAEP.
Minor Violations:
No warning given; automatic loss of an earned day
1noiseany unnatural sound, beating, drumming, thumping, singing, etc.
2talkany verbal communication with another; writing and/or passing notes
3stationalteration to station area, desk, or pc
4turn around face computer…not looking around classroom
One-day Minor Violations:
No warning given; automatic loss of earned day with one day added
101 inappropriate comments any verbal remarks made by student including sounds and/ or gestures
102 disrespect negative, rude, derogatory or discourteous behavior directed at anyone
103 sitting sideways sitting sideways in cubicle instead of facing computer
104 laying over laying on wall, leaning on cubicle wall, or propped up on book
105 head down putting head down
Three-day Intermediate Violations:
No warning given, automatic loss of earned day with three days added
301profanity sounds like or gestures
302insubordinationfailure to respond to a warning, or a request by a staff member
303gang stuffanything gang related, signs, drawings, logos, etc.
304projectileanything which goes from point a to point b
305contrabanditems not allowed on campus, lighters, jewelry, cell phones
306horseplaystudents engaged in inappropriate physical or verbal
behavior
307Internetnon-educational use of computer/ 2nd offense could result in loss of computer

Five-day Major Violations:
No warning given, automatic loss of earned day with five days added

Continual sleeping will result in a suspension!
In addition to loss of earned day or addition of days, the following discipline procedures may be used as warranted.
•Loss of points on the level system
•Loss of privileges
•Issuing detentions
•Office referrals which will result in the following: calling parents and then detention, and suspension
•Students may receive a referral to the judge for disruptions of the learning environment, verbal assault, or physical assault, etc. which will result in court appearance, fine and/or community service as determined by municipal court judge.
•Students who continue to cause problems or disruptions (persistent) and refuse to comply with DAEP rules may be suspended or expelled from school.
EXPULSION: Any student engaging in serious misbehavior or that violates the District Code of Conduct while placed in DAEP will be considered for expulsion. Persistent is defined as two or more violations of the District Code of Conduct or repeated occurrences of the same violations.
POLICE INTERVENTION: Certain situations/violations are likely to result in the police being called. When this occurs, parents will be informed as soon as possible. The following situations/violations are likely to result in police intervention:
•Theft
•Physical assaults
•Fire, explosives, and weapons violations
•Criminal mischief or vandalism
•Drug and alcohol violations
•Disorderly conduct (i.e. offensive language, fighting, disruptions of classroom)
Disruptions: In order to ensure student safety and sustain an educational program free from disruption action will be taken against any person---student or non-student who:
- FAILURE TO RESPOND TO DAEP STAFF DIRECTIVE WILL RESULT IN OFFICER BEING CALLED!
Disrupts classes while on District property. Class disruption includes making any loud noises; try to entice a student away from, or to prevent a student from attending, a required class or activity; entering or leaving a classroom without authorization, enticing others to laugh and act out and disrupting the activity with profane language or any misconduct. Classroom disruption could result in a referral to judge.
Students that adhere to the student code of conduct can earn bonus points. Students on level 3 will have the opportunity to earn removal of additional days of placement. After three successful weeks on level 3, students may earn one day removal of time left for every day they earn all 7 points at DAEP.
