Work Experience:

Paradigm Constructions, India (May 2013- Aug 2014)

A medium sized developer engaged in construction of residential apartments running for over a decade. It aims to produce quality buildings with good aesthetics for city’s infrastructure.

Role: Site Supervisor

The job involved overall supervision of the site work. I performed the task of checking the progress of work in terms of quality and speed on a daily basis. During the job, I developed the following skills:

  • Planning/Time Management- I ensured that work took place as per the schedule. As working in a group, I would set out activities lined up for a week and meet set targets. For instance, assigning number of people, equipment and provisions required for filling columns on a floor in a defined period. Sharing and negotiating ideas to derive to a solution was part of my job.
  • Material Management- I engaged in procuring, managing and conserving the materials. I assisted in determining the requirement and its efficient utilisation. I also enhanced problem solving skills through daily experiences. These skills were desired when material would be over-ordered and an apt decision would be needed to prevent wastage. It also helped me to grasp waste management techniques and encouraged to reuse materials.
  • People Management and Teamwork- I coordinated, communicated and motivated amongst the involved parties during challenging events for client satisfaction. This developed my leadership qualities. Teamwork was one of the highlight of my experience. I worked in a team of 10-15 members (skilled and unskilled) regularly, therefore being flexible was essential.
  • Technicality- I progressed to learn some technical skills. This included interpreting drawings, concrete-mixtures, sub and super structure, steel reinforcement and marking of columns. The focus was more into civil works.
  • Additionally, I enjoyed to work under stress to meet deadlines. Having lived and dealt people from different regions, I possess an interpersonal trait and also capable of learning Arabic quickly.
  • IT Skills: Attended Revit workshop.
