Lynchburg Humane Society - Volunteer Contract

The Lynchburg Humane Society (the “LHS”) hereby agrees to allow the undersigned to donate his or her service to the LHS in the undersigned’s capacity as a Volunteer for the LHS, and the undersigned hereby accepts a position as a Volunteer for the LHS, upon the following terms, conditions, and understandings:

Terms and Conditions

  1. The undersigned’s services to the LHS are provided strictly in a voluntary capacity as a Volunteer, and without any express or implied promise of salary, compensation, or any other kind of payment.
  2. The undersigned’s services are furnished without any employment-type or similar benefits, including, without limitation, medical, disability, life or any other type of insurance, retirement or pension benefits, worker’s compensation, vacations, or sick time.
  3. The undersigned will familiarize himself/herself and comply with the LHS’s policies and procedures applicable to Volunteers. In particular, the undersigned fully understands that the LHS expects high standards of moral conduct, and ethical treatment of the animals under its care. The undersigned will adhere strictly to these standards in his/her capacity as a Volunteer.
  4. The undersigned understands that the LHS, without notice or hearing, may terminate his/her services as a Volunteer at any time, with or without reason or cause.
  5. I do hereby swear that I have never before been convicted of animal cruelty, neglect, or abandonment.

Release

I understand that the handling of animals and other Volunteer activities on behalf of the LHS may place me in a hazardous situation and could result in injury to me or my personal property. In consideration of the premises, the mutual promises herein contained and LHS allowing me to donate my services to the LHS, and on behalf of myself, and my heirs, successors, personal representatives and assigns, I hereby release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless the LHS and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents, and their successors and assigns, from any and all claims, causes of action and demands of any nature, whether known or unknown, arising out of or in connection with my activities and the donation of my services as a Volunteer for the LHS.

As a volunteer of the Lynchburg Humane Society I do hereby swear that I have never been convicted of animal cruelty, neglect or abandonment. I agree to notify the LHS if there is ever a change in this status.

As a parent or legal guardian of the above-named Volunteer, I hereby give consent for my minor child or ward, as the case may be, to become a Volunteer for The Lynchburg Humane Society as described in the above Volunteer Contract and, by my signature below, and in consideration of the premises, the mutual promises herein contained and the LHS allowing my minor child or ward to donate his/her services to the LHS, join in and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of the Release above.
