Job Details

We currently have vacancies for 2 lunchtime supervisors to commence appointment as soon as possible. We are looking for flexible, caring and dedicated members of staff to work during the lunchtime period supporting children from the age of 5-11 years.

As a school we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, we expect all staff to share this commitment. The post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

This post will also have a 6 month probationary period.

Our School

Barley Fields Primary School is a 3 form entry school with 604 children currently on roll. The school serves the area of Ingleby Barwick in Stockton.

Organisation and Staffing

The school is led by a leadership team consisting of the Head Teacher, Assistant Head Teachers and four senior leaders. Each key stage is led by a member of the senior leadership team and comprises of teaching staff, teaching assistants and learning support assistants (SEND).

Curriculum

The school curriculum provides rich opportunities for high quality learning; it is broad,balanced and offers a learning experience enriched with creative and imaginative teaching and learning opportunities. The curriculum provides the children with their full entitlement and more, it is thematic in design and ensures key stages follow linked themes on a rolling two year cycle. The curriculum is designed to meet the needs and interests of the children and is enriched with visits and visitors to school. In addition, children are given opportunities for sustained study in areas such as music and gymnastics, enrichment that is delivered by qualified and experienced coaches and teachers.

The school offers a range of afterschool activities and programmes in all areas. We have excellent resources and provision in drama and the performing arts, art and music.

Inclusion

The school has a clear policy on inclusion and has been awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark (gold standard). As a school we have experience in supporting children with a variety of needs and difficulties. The careful monitoring of attainment ensures that the needs of all learners are readily identified and appropriate support provided. The school works in partnership with parents alongside many external agencies such as EducationalPsychology, Speech and Language Therapy and Physiotherapy to deliver targeted programmes of support to individual children. Learning support staff are allocated to cohorts of children with high levels of need and are able to deliver wave 2 and 3 intervention programmes and support strategies.

Resourcing

The school has a range of provision including bespoke EY provision, timber-trail and multiuse games areas. We have a very extensive level of IT provision and equipment.

Governance

The school governing body is well established and its members have a diverse range of experiences, interests and skills which allow them to perform their role as a criticalfriend well. They offer a high level of challenge and support to the school.

Extended school Provision

Through our extended school initiatives the school consistently operates for extensive periods of the school day and during holidays. We work in partnership with a private EY provider to offer extended services and playgroup support for children aged 2-4 years. Support is also offered to parentsthrough a children’s club, this offers before, after school and holiday club provision for children aged 3-11years.

Lunchtime Supervisor

(Grade C)

Job Description

Responsible to: Head Teacher, Assistant Head Teachers

Liaising with: Head Teacher, Senior Leadership Team (SLT) as well as all staff and pupils

Salary: APT 10

Start of Post: April 2018

Key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

Responsibility / Task/Action
Supervision and control of children in the dining hall. /
  • To follow the agreed dining hall procedures to ensure lunchtimes run smoothly
  • Organising an orderly dinner queue.
  • Ensuring good behaviour and calm conversation and atmosphere.
  • Encouraging good table manners and skills.
  • Encouraging children to eat.
  • Ensuring children tidy/clear up.
  • Cleaning up spillages/mess.
  • Rewarding good behaviour

Supervision and control of children in playground and around the school building. /
  • Supervision of children during lunch.
  • Encouraging/organising children to take part in play activities.
  • Rewarding good behaviour

Safeguarding /
  • Assist the Head Teacher and Senior school leaders in ensuring the security, safety and welfare of children during the lunchtime period.
  • Report to class teacher and other colleagues (as appropriate) on day to day matters or concerns.
  • Ensure any child who suffers an accident or injury is dealt with in accordance with the school first aid policy and procedures.
  • Challenging any non-identified strangers on site.

Working co-operatively as member of lunchtime team. /
  • Keep up to date with developments within the school by attending lunchtime supervisor meetings.
  • Good timekeeping and attendance record.
  • Completion of individual tasks.
  • Assisting other team members.

  • To demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, staff and volunteers.
