FACULTY ATHENAEUM POLICIES

The Athenaeum is open to all current faculty, as well as emeriti professors, fulltime librarians, senior administrators, Trustees, Governors and their guests.

Hours of Operation

Regular staffed hours are 9:00am - 7:00pm Monday-Friday. Faculty have 24/7 key card access. It is our hope that Athenaeum users will take pride of ownership in the space, treating it with respect. In that spirit, after-hours privileges are extended to faculty, although other events may be scheduled outside the staffed hours. If you see any suspicious activities taking place in the Athenaeum, please report them immediately to Campus Safety.

Food Service

Sodexo has created a gourmet showcase buffet lunch menu which is served between11:30am and 1:30pm. The cost of the lunch is $10 and includes salads, entrees, sides, dessert and beverages. Complimentary soda and coffee service will be provided during the morning and afternoon hours.

Sodexo will accept cash, credit card, and or Panther bucks (or Declining Balance Plans (DCBs)). Unlike cash and credit purchases, all meal plans are tax exempt. The following plans will apply to the Athenaeum:

  • Panther Buck Plans (
  • Platinum Plan A: Includes $700 Panther Bucks. Price - $645 (15% savings)
  • Platinum Plan B: Includes $345 Panther Bucks. Price - $322 (14% savings)
  • Platinum Plan C: Includes $115 Panther Bucks. Price - $110 (12% savings)
  • Declining Balance Plans: Load your card at the Bhathal Student Services Center or contact to confirm terms and conditions of declining balance plans. Declining Balance plans do not expire, and are refundable upon leaving Chapman University.
  • Panther Bucks may be used at all retail restaurant locations and at Randall Dining Commons.

Special Events

Exclusive events that require the Athenaeum to be closed to members may not be scheduled during the hours of 9:00am - 7:00pm Monday-Friday. If you wish to book the Athenaeum for member-sponsoreduniversityevents and programming outside of the staffed hours, please contact the Events Scheduling office to make reservations. Requests will be confirmed with the approval of the Athenaeum committee.Please note,Sodexo is responsible for all catering in the Athenaeum.

Scholarly & Creative Works

Members are encouraged to contribute their books and other creative works for display on the Athenaeum book-shelves. Please provide them to the attendant on duty and they will stamp all books to indicate they belong to the Athenaeum Library.
