LUCY BURROWS AND THE ENGLAND MOUNTED GAMES TEAM
Royal Windsor Horse Show, 8th-12th May 2013

I had such a fantastic time at Windsor. The first two days we had a team bonding session at Astrid's house, she is on the Warwickshire team. the weather was glorious and we swam in her swimming pool and chilled out in her hot tub!! Koogi had a shower and a solarium- he loved it! Think mum, Richard and Mary did too!! We had two training sessions so Richard could decide his running order for the competition- as there were some new races as well.

We arrived at Windsor on Tuesday and set up camp with the rest of the teams. We then had a reception to receive our colours to meet the PC and DAKS officials. The first session was in the main arena, it was on an artificial surface and Koogi was on ‘fire’ he went so fast!

The team did brilliantly and we won. We went on to win five out of the six sessions. Richard was very happy by this time!! We were leading going into the final session, we held our nerves - the ponies were brilliant and we won by a record breaking 52 points! It was the most amazing feeling to gallop down the centre of the castle arena with the England flag flying, holding the DAKS International cup! We also came second in the tack and turnout competition that ran all week. We received our rosettes and the cup from HRH Prince Phillip who was very nice and gave Koogi a sugar lump! .

I would like to say a massive thank you to Richard for training me and to everyone who has helped and supported me. I could never have done it without such an amazing pony like Koogi a special thank-you for Katie Vernon for finding him and to Becky Thomas for helping me through the early days!!I now have a photo of me on the England Team on Koogi to hang next to Rosie and Wolfie- my dream came true!!
