Background:
The Jarrod Carroll Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in February 2003 by Rick and Jerri Carroll and their daughter, Kristen, in memory of their son and brother, Jarrod.
Jarrod was a former Lee’s Summit North High School student who died on October 9, 2002 as a result of injuries suffered in a bicycle accident. Jarrod suffered a massive head injury when he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle. His spirit lives on in the five lives he was able to save through organ donations.
Jarrod had begun his sophomore year at Lee’s Summit North High School where he was involved in Air Force Junior ROTC, Men’s Choir, stage crew for “Fiddler on the Roof” and a chorus member in “Footloose.” He was a member of the Lee’s Summit chapter of the Civil Air Patrol. Jarrod was a lifelong resident of Lee’s Summit and participated in recreational baseball, soccer and wrestling as well as competitive dance. He dreamed of joining the Air Force and becoming a pilot.
Jarrod was a bright spot in everyone’s life. His energy, enthusiasm and big smile were contagious. He lived life to the fullest.
Purpose:To recognize the well-rounded individual and to provide funds for
this college-bound student.
Number of Recipients:One Lee’s Summit North High School Graduate
Scholarship amount:$500
Guidelines:
a.The applicant must be a graduating senior from Lee’s Summit North
High School.
b.The applicant plans to further their education.
c.The applicant must be or must have been involved in civic, community
and extra-curricular activities.
d.The applicant must show evidence of being a well-rounded individual
and of displaying exemplary character.
Process:The Selection Committee, consisting of at least four people, will review the
applications and recommend the recipient.
Scholarship Payment:The Scholarship will be made by a Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation
check payable jointly to the recipient and his or her choice of a higher
learning institution.To receive the scholarship check, recipient must send
proof of enrollment to Sheryl Franke, 301 NE Tudor Road, Lee's Summit, MO
64086.
