Lower Dauphin Winter Track Information

Winter track practice will take place every Monday and Wednesday after school beginning at 3:00 pm in the High School Cafeteria. Practice will last till aprox. 5:00 pm. On occasions the practice schedule will change, this will be based on vacation schedule, and upcoming meets.

The first official practice will be on Monday, November 28th.

Tentatively, we will attend indoor track meets at the following location

Lebanon Valley College, Dickinson University, Franklin and Marshall and Penn State University. Anyone who attends practice and has a physical is eligible for competition. Athletes, who are participating in other winter sports, may also compete with written permission from their winter sports coach. Special Note: Winter track meets are held on Saturdays. If you work, and plan to compete please plan ahead of time.

Athletes who wish to compete in Indoor Track Meets must attend both practices during the week preceding the meet. If you don’t come to one practice during the week, then you can’t go to an indoor meet on that weekend (unless you are on another varsity winter sports team).

Athletes will also be expected to weight train at least 3 times a week. A strength training workout will be given to each of you. You are expected to keep a record of weights, reps and dates you lifted.

It has been proven that the best athletes train consistently throughout the winter in order to have successful outdoor track season, we need to prepare in the winter season. For this reason, anyone who comes out for winter track will be expected to be at every practice. If you are going to miss a practice, you should provide advance notice as to why you will not be able to attend. If you have more than 3 unexcused absences you will be removed from the team. We only practice twice a week; I do not think it is too much to ask that you be at practice both days.

Our practices will be organized in the following schedule:

-Full mobility stretch (Olympic Style Warm-up)

- Sprint drills

-Break out into specialty group

-Core strength and conditioning

-Team Cool Down

-Abs

-Lifting
