The Love Scholarship Fund is in memory of Lorraine Love’s family. Her father, mother, and brother: John Ranie Love, Hattie Hawkins, and Ranie Harold Love. It’s not just an honorarium, but an effort by a local University of Kansas Alumnus to make a statement about education and the University. It’s felt this statement – “providing a reward to the brightest and best school students who choose to attend KU from Oberlin, Kansas is in keeping with the goal of educating the brightest and best of our young people.”
Lorraine Love formed this fund because of a deep and abiding respect for the value of education in her life and belief in providing this opportunity to others

Award Based on Scholarship (50%), Leadership (25%), and Service (25%)
SELECTION PROCESS:
The Love Scholarship Award is awarded annually to a high school graduating student or students (depending on funds available) attending the University of Kansas on a full-time basis. Student selection will be derived from Decatur Community High School, Oberlin, Kansas. The Kansas University Endowment Fund will make funds available when the student arrives on Campus. "Awards are MERIT based!"
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School Applicant should have a GPA of 3.7 or better.
2. Must maintain a 3.0 or better GPA for Scholarship renewal.
3. Signing of application is applicant's certification that applicant is "drug free", and abstains from drug abuse. Any substance abuse results in termination of scholarship award.
