Love One Another Sunday

Good morning and welcome to our celebration of Love One Another Sunday!

Today, as an act of worship, we will have the opportunity to make our three-year pledges or one-time gifts to support the Love One Another campaign for Lutheran Services Carolinas. Over the past few Sundays, we’ve been learning about the ministries of LSC in South Carolina, and about the ways that LSC is preparing to expand its programs and services through this special appeal.

(Hold up a copy of the bulletin insert and the challenge goals bookmark.)

In your bulletin insert this morning, you will find details about the primary goals of the campaign, and on this bookmark you will find information about two exciting challenge goals. (Summarize the goals and challenge goals, highlighting any that are of particular interest to the congregation. Be sure to cover ALL the goals, because congregants may have missed a week or two). Please note that ALL gifts and pledges to the campaign will go directly to support the programs and services as described. No money donated to the Love One Another campaign will be used to defray campaign expenses, and it all stays here in South Carolina.

(Hold up a copy of the Statement of Intent form)

You will also find a Statement of Intent form in your bulletin. We would like for everyone to fill out one of these forms. It is easier for everybody if gifts are sent directly to LSC rather than through the church. Our Congregational Goal is ______. That works out to an average of ______per member – spread out over 3 years! As with any average, we know some of you will give more – and some won’t be able to give as much as they’d like at this time. We want everyone to know that gifts of all sizes are important, and we hope everyone will help us reach or exceed our goal. If you do not wish to make a gift or pledge at this time, please still put your name on a form and simply write “No gift at this time” on it. This will help us know that you have received the information and have decided not to support the campaign right now, and we will not continue to ask you for support.

During the offering this morning, we invite you to bring your completed and folded Statements of Intent (as well as your one-time or initial gifts and all checks should be made out to LSC with Love One Another on the memo line) to the altar and place them in the basket provided (or give other instructions). During that time, we will sing a special campaign hymn –(We Are Called – ELW 720, To Be Your Presence – ELW 546, or A New Commandment – WOV 664). Results will be announced and celebrated __(method)______.

As your pastor/council president/campaign chair, I heartily endorse the work of Lutheran Services Carolinas and personally encourage all of you to consider a gift or pledge to this special appeal. Our faith not only saves us; it also calls us to serve our neighbor and to “love one another” in tangible, life-changing ways. Today, we have an opportunity to answer that call. I hope that you will join me/us in generously supporting LSC’s Love One Another campaign.Thank you!
