I. First General Session

- Each school and all of the officers were welcomed and announced using the space theme

* There were 14 clubs registered and over 250 attendees.

-  Session was presided over by Adam Broussard on February 14 at 4:00 p.m.

-  Parliamentarian, Lainee Whatley, went over convention rules

- Officer and head table introductions were given

- Mrs. Janet Lathrop, Student Relations Chairman, gave special announcements about the scavenger hunt and door prizes

-  LLA President, Mrs. Paula Clemmons and Mrs. Jade Calais, LASL President, brought greetings

-  All committee chairs were asked to come to the front for recognition

II. Sunday Evening

-  The Highs and Lows from Alexandria Senior High sang for entertainment at 4:30 (Librarians were recognized during last song with a rose ceremony.)

-  Book discussion for the junior and senior division was conducted at 5:00 by West Feliciana Middle and DeQuincy High School (Sponsors and chaperones judged contests.)

-  The drawing contest was held at 5:00 by EDS

-  The costume contest was conducted at 7:30 by Hathaway High

-  The Scholastic Book Sale was open and manned by EDS students

-  The dance and dance contests were held from 9:00 to 11:30, hosted by West Feliciana High

-  Social games were held in a room beside the dance, hosted by Lacassine High

III.  Monday Morning

-  Officers, contest committee chairs, and voting delegates met at 9:00 for the 3rd Executive Board meeting

-  The voting delegates voted on the drawing contest entries after the executive board meeting

-  Louisiana percussionist, Elizabeth Vidos, was our Guest Talent at 9:30 (This took the place of the Talent Show.)

IV. Second General Session

-  Session was called to order by Adam Broussard on February 15 at 10:20

-  The Officer Induction ceremony was held by Lauren Necaise and Natalie Wilson from WFMS

V. Pre-Luncheon

-  Author, Sarah Guillory, signed books at 10:45

-  Junior high and high school members separated and attended two thirty-minute workshops starting at 11:00. The sponsors attended their annual Sponsors’ Meeting. The first workshop was led by Mrs. Angela Germany from the State Library. She presented information about next year’s LYRC and LTRC titles. The second workshop was supervised by Karla Kirby and Tammy DiBartolo from the Rapides Parish Library.

III Third General Session/Author & Awards Lunch

-  Session was called to order by Adam Broussard at 12:15

-  After the meal, Mrs. Angela Germany brought greetings from the State Library.

- Guest author, Sarah Guillory, was introduced by VP Destiny Mock. Mrs. Guillory was a very engaging and inspiring speaker! She is a high school English teacher and Louisiana author. Her book Reclaimed was on the 2016 LTRC Award list.

-  Mrs. Lathrop announced the winners of the coveted LTLA Spirit Award.

*  Junior High Spirit Award winner was Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School

*  Senior High Spirit Award was Hathaway High

-Mrs. Lathrop recognized all senior LTLA members and their years of membership. Students received a token of appreciation from their sponsor. Two students from West Feliciana High School were recognized for attending all seven years of middle and high school- Adam Brouaard and Daniel Lathrop!

-  Outgoing officers were thanked and they handed the new officers their LTLA Handbook binders. The new officers are:

•  Incoming President- Ruby Roberg from West Feliciana High

•  Incoming Vice President- Matthew Savoy from Hathaway High

•  Remaining as Parliamentarian- Lainee Whatley from EDS

•  Incoming Historian- Natalie Clemmons from Lacassine High

•  Incoming Reporter- Anna Kate Holmes from West Feliciana Middle

•  Incoming Secretary- Cayla Breland from Maurepas High

•  Incoming Treasurer- Emma Beauchamp from West Feliciana High

-  Mrs. Renee Martin from Central Private was announced as next year’s Student Relations Chair

-  2015-16 LTLA State Convention was adjourned by incoming President Ruby Roberg at 1:45 pm.
