Longfellow & Seward Neighborhood Robbery of Persons3rd Precinct September 25,2013

Incident/Facts:

1.)On September 19 @ 11:20 p.m.Two victimswere approached in the area of 22nd Street and 24th Ave South by three suspects and held up one suspect implied he had a weapon and the other two suspects then went through the victims pockets and took their property. Loss: purse, wallet and cash.

Suspect Information:

  • Suspect #1:5’8 – 5’10 black male medium build dark colored sweatshirt, red/white/blue baseball cap.

. Suspect #2: 5’6 – 5’8 black male medium build 20-25 years old

Suspect #3: 5’6 – 5’8 black male medium build 20-25 years old

2.)On September 19 @ 10:00 p.m. The victim was in the US Bank parking lot at 29thAve South andLake Street when two suspects approached and demanded money. The suspects assaulted the victim and took their property. Loss: jacket, cellphone, and cash

Suspect Information:

  • Suspect #1:5’10 black male medium build 35- 45 years old wearing all black clothing

Suspect #2: 5’8 black female medium build 35- 45 years old wearing all black clothing

3.)On September 20 @ 1:23 a.m. Two victimswerein the area of 31stAve South and LakeStreetwhen they were approached by three suspects. One suspect was armed with a weapon and demanded their property. Victims handed over loss and suspects fled the area south bound behind the Car - X.Loss: cell phone, purse, wallet and cash

Suspect Information:

  • Suspect #1:5’10 black male medium build 18- 25 years old wearing black clothing, black bandana over lower half of face.

Suspect #2:5’10 black male medium build 18- 25 years old wearing black clothing

Suspect #3:5’10 black male medium build 18- 25 years old wearing black clothing

4.)On September 20 @ 11:30 p.m. The victim was leaving the bar in the area of 28th Ave South and Lake Street going to his car when he opened his rear passenger door to get something from the backseat three suspects with weapons approached him from behind and then demanded money. The victim handed over his property and the suspects fled east from the location. Loss: necklace, cell phone, wallet and cash

  • Suspect #1: 5’9 black male medium build mid 20’s short afro, black jacket

Suspect #2: 5’9 black male medium build mid 20’s short straight hair, white t-shirt.

Suspect #3: 5’9black male medium build mid 20’s short afro, black t-shirt.

5.)On September 20 @ 12:00 p.m. The victim was walking west bound on 28th Street and 29th Ave South when a suspect came up from behind and grabbed her purse off her should and fled. Victim chased suspect and when she grabbed the purse back, the suspect knocked her down and took the contents from the purse and fled south bound in the alley between 29th – 30th Ave South. Loss: bus card, cell phone and cash

  • Suspect #1: 6’0 black male heavy build 20- 25 years old with a goatee, possible word tattooed on right cheek, black hoodie, blue jeans.

MPD Response to Robbery of Person’s

MPD 3rd PCT district squads are increasing their presence in this area and will be doing

on-going surveillance to address this issue.All five cases are still pending investigations

and no arrests have been made at this time. If and when an arrest is made we will update the community.

New Update Information

Two possible suspects were arrested on 9/24/13 one was arrested at 9:00 p.m. in the area of 28th Ave. S. and 31st Street East and the second suspect was arrested in the area of 30th and Minnehaha Ave at 4:00 p.m... At this time all cases are being investigated when more information is available an update will be sent out. Great work by MPD 3rd PCT officers and Metro Transit Police officers.

What you can do:

Be observant and aware of your surroundings.

Avoid being absorbed in telephone conversations or music that distracts you.

If you see suspicious activity or persons acting suspiciously, call 911.

If a robber approaches you, don’t resist. Try to get a good description of the robber, as well as vehicle description and license plate number and call 911 immediately.
