Credit Recovery is a model designed for students to complete coursework, with limited assistance from the local school monitor, facilitator, or teacher. The coursework of the program is not intended for students who need one-on-one help nor those students whom did not get a basic understanding of the course content during the student’s previous class time. Therefore, to be successful in this credit recovery effort, you should be self-motivated and an independent learner who exhibits a strong personal commitment towards earning credit in the student centered setting.
The prescribed program of instruction will begin with an assessment based on the Georgia Performance Standard for a unit of the course. The pre-assessment indicates whether you have achieved mastery of the objectives, or if you need to spend more time on this particular content. After you achieve the desired level of mastery, you will take the unit test. The grade for the course is based upon the unit test scores combined with the final exam or state mandated EOC test.
To earn credit:
Enrollment in Credit Recovery does not guarantee a passing score and the earning of credits.
If you fail to meet all requirements, you will be responsible for obtaining the credit through another means, such as Evening Academy, Henry On-line Academy, or Summer School.
All coursework must be completed by the assigned date. A fee of $25 will be assessed to re-enroll in the course via Credit Recovery. Once registered for the course, the course will have an expiration date. It is your responsibility to be aware of this date.
As stated under Academic Honesty in the 2016-17 Henry County Student and Parent Handbook, all coursework submitted must be your own, original work. You must not cheat on any assignment by giving or receiving unauthorized assistance or committing the act of plagiarism. If you commit such acts, you are subject to receiving a grade of zero on the assignment as well as disciplinary action and/or removal from Credit Recovery.
Copying and printing any portion of the materials/tests on the Credit Recovery program/site is against the rules and will result in removal from the course and Credit Recovery.
All POST TESTS must be taken during the assigned Credit Recovery period under the supervision of the teacher/facilitator. Any test taken outside of the class time will be permanently deleted. Any other material can be accessed and reviewed outside of the class including activities, pre-tests, puzzles, reading, etc.
All English courses are required to complete an essay for each semester of work. This should be completed and submitted at the beginning of the course. Those are not graded on site and can take up to two weeks to receive grades.
Skipping will not be tolerated in Credit Recovery. Skipping class will result in automatic removal from Credit Recovery.
The teacher/facilitator of this class will not be responsible for writing passes for any student in order for them to complete a unit post-test. The class periods will be 90 minutes long and post-tests can be completed in that length of time.
Each unit post-test is allotted three attempts. If you fail to successfully complete the post-test in those three attempts, the test will be re-set only when the facilitator receives three (3) pages of handwritten notes. You will be given no more than one (1) class period to complete the note taking process.
NO CREDIT will be given without successful completion of this course work as prescribed by the Credit Recovery Program.
NO CREDIT will be given until this form is signed by all parties and returned to the teacher/facilitator.
Final Exams for any course and essays for English courses cannot be re-set. You only have one (1) attempt for them…so make it count.
Three Strike Policy
Students are expected to make adequate progress and will be monitored and assessed based on the successful completion of at least one (1) unit post-test per week. Successful completion means acquiring a grade of 70 or higher on a Unit Post-Test. Failure to have successfully completed a unit post-test will result in the student receiving a “strike.” Upon receiving your third (3rd) strike, you will be removed from your Credit recovery class and potentially placed in another class.
