2014 AGM Minutes

There were 19 people in attendance. SMcKendry asked everyone in attendance to stand and say prayers for all deceased members

RLaverty, Secretary, read out minutes of previous AGM. These were proposed for acceptance by Liam Mulholland and seconded by R Mc Quillan.

RLaverty then ran through the Secretarys Report for 2014, the report was proposed for acceptance by Liam Hamilton and seconded by M Jamison

PMcSparran read through the financial statement for 2014; highlight items:

  • Things a lot better this year
  • Murder mystery night etc
  • Quiz donated £595 to charity
  • Membership is down from previous year
  • No Players injury claims for the year
  • Sportsweek was up on previous year
  • The collection at the gates before matches has been welcome addition

The financial report was proposed for acceptance by John O’ hara and seconded by B Mahilton

SMcKendry then read through the Chairmans Report for 2014, highlight items:

  • Sean Welcomed everyone, however he would like to see more people
  • The sad passing of Father Alec and Johny white, two great hurling people
  • Recognises the work by committee, particularly PMcS who has possibly 4 or 5 jobs
  • Thanks to Paul and Brendan for keeping up the referees duties. We should respect referees and encouraged more people to come forward and volunteer as a referee
  • Very lucky in terms of the committee activities, particularly Briege and Fiona who ran various functions
  • Great to see the coaching of the underage continuing
  • Good to see div 2 secured for sen team
  • Urged some of the senior players to look at themselves and commit more in the incoming year so as not fighting for survival
  • 25 years of the quiz, thanks to Pearl and Robert
  • To dominic mc quillan and his team for managing the senior team
  • Would like to see more people come onto the committee and push for a position

BSM was thanked for all her efforts at lifting money at the gate

SMcK said we were lucky to have MJ in our club and wished him all the best in his new job

BH Suggested a rota be drawn up for cleaning the pavilion

MJ asked if we could ensure only officials were allowed into the changing rooms area during match day

MM asked who was taking the senior hurlers this incoming season, SMcK said DMcQ is going ahead, RMcQ pointed out that DMcQ said if anyone else wished to do it, he would not stand in their way

HM asked about the underage amalgamation, PMcS stated it would likely go ahead and be from U12

TMcH pointed out that we would need to appoint a CP officer for the new club

SMcK said he was keen to see the underage set up work, and stated that the coaching here would be as good as anywhere else

HM suggested targeting the parents of the underage kids for help and support

BH asked what the long term strategy was for the club? There then followed a large debate on how to attract more people to join/become active within the club

SMcK suggested those with ideas to bring it to the next committee meeting
