EMPLOYMENT

2003 – present: Freelance web content producer/journalist/blogger

Specialising in entertainment, celebrity, lifestyle, humour and women’s content for the internet, working both in offices and from home, I have created features, news stories, reviews, listings, picture galleries, advertorials, newsletters and blog posts for: MSN.co.uk; Orange.co.uk (including its former incarnations Freeserve and Wanadoo); social networking and retail site OSOYOU.com; women’s websites Goodtoknow.co.uk and icircle.com; listing site Londonisfree.com; and UKTV channel websites.

The jobs above have involved writing, sub-editing, proofing, uploading and scheduling content, often to tight deadlines; launching/developing channels; ensuring homepages, headlines and other content were kept up-to-date and optimised for search engines; using HTML and a variety of Content Management Systems; researching and editingimages; liaising with commercial and marketing teams on their content-related requirements and on team projects; and often working at weekends and evenings.

Blogging: During 2008, I was the main writer on the Barack Obama supporters’/American election news blog and also wrote two reports for Orange.co.uk’s News Blog from the inauguration in Washington. American website Jazz.com described my personal blog about life as a jazz singer in Malaysia as “one of the best blogs out there” and as a result commissioned me to write features on jazz music for its blog section.

2008 – present: Freelance podcast producer

I recently set myself up as an independent podcast producer, and currently produce two comedy podcasts and an eco fashion podcast; and edit two regular poker podcasts.

2002 – present: Jazz vocalist

Performing at music venues, weddings, corporate and private functions, restaurants and bars throughout the UK, I work directly with both clients and venues, as well as being on the books of various live music agencies. Venues and clients I have performed for include: Kensington Palace, Conran Restaurants, Harvey Nichols Group, Jumeirah Hotels, RSA, Royal Navy.

1998 – 2002: ITV Digital plc: various

I initially joined ITV Digital as a temp, working across many different departments as both a PA and admin assistant. I then became PA to Director of Broadcasting and ultimately Head of Interactive Content in the Broadcasting Department. In this role, I manageda team of 12 people (including designers and freelancers), launched and ran interactive TV channels on the platform, and worked closely with other departments on their broadcasting and promotion needs.

1994 –1998: Various

Including arthouse cinema manager (The Screen On Baker Street and The Gate Cinema) and stand-up comedy promoter (Avalon Promotions).

OFFICE SKILLS

Computer systems/software: I am equally at home on both PCs and Apple Macs. I know how to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), basic Photoshop and Garageband.

Websites: I am used to working with, and learning, a variety of website content management systems. I know basic HTML, and am a confident user of the blogging platforms WordPress and Movable Type.

Typing speed: I can touch-type and my typing speed is 68wpm.

INTERESTS

Photography: I’m a keen amateur photographer. My photographs have been published in The Guardian and I was shortlisted in the Take-A-View Landscape Photographer Of The Year competition 2007.

Podcasting: As well as producing podcasts professionally, I take part in a monthly podcast with friends about pretty much anything and everything to do with popular culture:
