Role Description

Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL) is the largest fitness and leisure operator in the Kirklees area. The Marketing Assistantwill work for KALto provide a comprehensive Marketing and Public Relations service. This will be achieved through promoting Kirklees Active Leisure’s activities, facilities and achievements to both the general public and stakeholders, and for liaison with partners to ensure accurate and up-to-date promotional material through a variety marketing platforms.

The post holder will have excellent customer care skills and the ability to support managers across the Trust to ensure that our product is marketed effectively and in accordance with Trust policies and procedures. This role requires the post holder to work closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager and Web Developerin the promotion of KAL and will therefore require excellent communication skills and a high level of numeracy and literacy. The post will entail working over a multitude of marketing platforms including social media. This continuously growing method of communicating with members and customers requires proactive interaction and is therefore paramount for KAL in order to keep ahead of current trends in a competitive marketing environment.

Key Tasks

  • To assist with appropriate marketing and corporate branding of facilities, services and initiatives
  • Develop and implement marketing procedures for digital media which reflect policies agreed and maintain the corporate approach
  • Co - ordinate marketing activities and liaise with Corporate Leads and other KAL personnel to ensure best practice throughout KAL
  • Aid the promotion of Kirklees Active Leisure, its facilities, its services and its personnel including the Board of Trustees to a range of identified audiences
  • Assist in monitoring and recording all media coverage of Kirklees Active Leisure to alert to any issues in the media which need to be acted on immediately/as soon as possible
  • Produce well-structured press releases which manage KAL’s reputation and image
  • Ensure appropriate support and guidance in the preparation of promotional material to managers and staff in liaison with the Marketing and Communications Manager
  • Prepare reports and associated information for consideration by senior managers and trustees as required
  • Write and approve staff briefs for projects, small campaigns and other developments to be introduced to operational teams
  • Drive, maintain and develop social media channels across all platforms in-line with KAL’s digital strategy
  • Monitor customer comments and interests to influence new online content and potential new products
  • Writing copy for online and offline media including customer emails, adverts, literature, blogs, and KAL website.
  • Planning and scheduling all digital media activities for all platforms, including the web, email, SMS and social media
  • Creation of new interesting and engaging content on social media including but not limited to videos, competitions, rewards, opinion polls
  • Utilise all digital media platforms to drive traffic to KAL's websites to satisfy monthly objectives and goals
  • Produce digital content when required for marketing projects, with support from external agencies and the Marketing and Communications Manager
  • Updating and maintaining the marketing department's documentation, email & SMS databases and all image banks
  • Web & Social Media training, including initial competency checks and ongoing support
  • Assist with updating the relevant websites, uploading suitable images and text. In some cases, to take photographswhere necessary for promotional material

  • Minimum 2 years marketing experience, ideally with suitable marketing qualifications
  • GCSE C or above in Maths and English, or equivalent

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent data analytical skills
  • IT proficient
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Content Management Systems & Social media for Business.
  • Confidence and experience in dealing with people and giving instructions
  • Evidence of ongoing personal development

B Criteria

  • Level 1 Safeguarding Children Certificate
  • Manual Handling training or experience with lifting, carrying, setting up and dismantling equipment
  • KAL Corporate Induction
  • KAL Corporate Health and Safety Certificate
  • 6 months work experience or volunteering
  • Previous experience in dealing with people, giving instructions, relaying information and dealing with conflict
  • KAL Standards Training

The role of Marketing Assistant is Band 2 and you will be expected to demonstrate an ability to work at this level, satisfying the majority of the behaviours at application. You would then be expected to progress until you are consistently meeting all the competencies within
