POST TITLE: Kitchen Assistant

SALARY: £8 per hour (£15,600 per annum fte)

HOURS: 15 hours per week (Saturday and Sunday)

LOCATION: Arthur Rank Hospice, Shelford Bottom, Cambridge

REPORTING TO: Sous Chef

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Estates, Facilities & Hospitality Manager

Job Purpose: To maintain the highest standard of cleanliness and tidiness whilst overseeing the running of the Bistro, at all times.

Main Responsibilities:

·  To have an awareness of customer needs ensuring excellent customer service, food presentation and compliance with the food safety policy

·  To undertake Bistro service delivery and ensure that high standards are maintained in compliance with all policies and procedures

·  Supervision of volunteers working within the Bistro.

·  To maintain a high standard of personal and food hygiene to comply with statutory and food safety requirements.

·  To ensure that high standards of service, a clean, safe and tidy customer and staff environment are maintained at all times

·  To work collaboratively with the team to achieve Departmental objectives

·  To ensure the compliance with administrative, HR and finance procedures and conditions of food policies, are met at all times.

·  Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be requested to suit the operational needs of the department.

·  To wash: crockery, pots, pans, glasses, trays, cutlery and kitchen utensils

·  To prepare basic food and assist with kitchen duties as requested by Chef

·  To thorough clean designated areas, sweeping and mopping of floors, ensuring that all surfaces are hygienically cleaned as instructed by the Line Manager

·  To clean the fridges, shelving, food preparation areas, cupboards and

Trolleys as required.

·  To prepare the dishwasher for the days use by checking that it is in full

working order, has sufficient chemicals for the days operation, and that it

is cleaned as directed.

·  To advise the team of any faults and chemical requisitions required.

·  To make sure that your designated machines and equipment are kept clean

all rubbish, food waste and recyclable materials must be removed and disposed of in the correct containers.

·  To check and log in deliveries ensuring that they are promptly stored in the correct location, making sure that stock rotation is achieved.

·  To ensure that any complaints or comments, hazards and faulty equipment

are reported to the Line Manager.

·  To attend training courses and staff meetings as required.

Health and Safety

·  Attends statutory training with respect to lifting, fire safety and any others required

·  Reports any defect in equipment immediately to the person with overall responsibility at that time.

·  Undertake risk assessments

General
