Local housebuilder begins work on new Wetherby development

8 September 2016: David Wilson Homes is pleased to announce completion of an acquisition of land at Sandbeck Lane, Wetherby, which was marketed by Cushman & Wakefield in 2015. David Wilson Homes has secured full planning consent on this 11-acre site, previously owned by Wetherby Park Ltd, to deliver 111 new homes.

Philip Roebuck, Residential Director at Cushman & Wakefield Leeds Office, commented:

“Wetherby is an extremely popular place to live offering a combination of great local facilities and excellent connectivity. There has been a shortage of good quality new build housing in the town so it was no surprise the site attracted a lot of interest from volume housebuilders. We are delighted with the outcome and I’m sure there will be strong demand for the much needed housing”.

Templars Chase will be David Wilson Homes’ first development in Wetherby for many years, delivering much needed new homes to meet the continuing demand for good quality homes in this popular area of North Leeds.

David Coe, Development Director at David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, commented:

“Negotiations have been underway to acquire this site for some time and I am delighted that we have now completed the acquisition. This is the first site we will deliver under the new Leeds City Council Community Infrastructure Levy regime which will require us to pay a contribution for every square meter of new development we deliver to the Council, to be spent on key infrastructure across the local area and Leeds City boundary. We are excited to see the new development taking shape over the coming months and to deliver much needed homes in Wetherby.”
