Our network of qualified staff talk to communities, listen to what they want and help them find local venues, coaches, instructors and volunteers as well as funding. Jog Derbyshire is a county wide project which aims to encourage people to become fitter and be more active by starting to jog on a regular basis with people of similar fitness levels.

Our network of community based jogging groups led by a qualified Jog Derbyshire Leader guide anyone who is new to jogging or who has not run for a long time through a series of gentle walking and jogging programmes.

Jog Derbyshire delivers community jogging groups across the county, providing support and advice to individuals, community groups and partner organisations to help set up groups inlocal community and workplace settings. We also organise training forall ourJog Leaders.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated person with great interpersonal skills to join the Community Sports Trust and develop sport and physical activity opportunities across Derbyshire.

In partnership with Derbyshire Sport, we are seeking an experienced sport development professional who is passionate about the development of sport and physical activity to help us deliver our highly successful Jog Derbyshire project, increasing and enhancing jogging opportunities across Derbyshire.

You will recruit and develop local volunteer jog leaders who will encourage and motivate people of all ages to getactive and stay active through jogging. You will relish the challenge of working with community networks and local partners, developing new opportunities and inspiring adults to get jogging.

The ideal candidate will have experience of building excellent relationships with organisations and individuals in community settings, be an excellent relationship builder, and be highly motivated. RESPONSIBLE TOJog Derbyshire Project Manager

PURPOSE OF POST

  • To increase recreational running in Derbyshire by creating Jog Derbyshire running groups and supporting existing groups
  • To quality assure Jog Derbyshire groups to ensure consistently high standards
  • To create a sense of common purpose across the project

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations

  1. Recruit participants to increase attendance at Jog Derbyshire groups
  2. Implement the established monitoring and evaluation system to collect data on delivery activity, participant numbers and groups
  3. Deliver the Jog Derbyshire marketing and communications plan with Community Sports Trust and Derbyshire Sport marketing colleagues, through implementing appropriate marketing techniques and project campaigns, such as social media and Jog Into January
  4. Identify and produce case studies and good news stories to support the marketing campaign for the project, produce and share newsletters and raise profile of the project
  5. Liaise with the Jog Derbyshire Project Manager to ensure the website is fit for purpose and continually work with relevant partners to implement changes as necessary
  6. Assist the Jog Derbyshire Project Manager in producing all relevant monitoring and funding reports

Building Capacity

  1. Lead the recruitment of Jog Leaders and volunteers to support existing and establish new jog groups
  2. Develop and support Jog Leaders by ensuring they have the required and up-to-date qualifications and training (LiRF Course, DBS check), starter pack, promotional materials and the support from experienced Jog Leaders
  3. Develop the Jog Derbyshire workforce to create and implement a clear volunteer workforce pathway
  4. Ensure all Jog Derbyshire Group Leaders and Volunteers are adhering to the guidelines set out in the starter park and supporting the needs of all participants
  5. Deliver a programme of ongoing support to Jog Leaders and volunteers to maintain their motivation and skills to ensure a quality experience for all participants
  6. Provide signposting information to Jog Leaders and group participants on running events, running clubs and athletic clubs in the county for those who are interested in moving on to more competitive levels
  7. Maintain service standards and manage any performance issues for Jog Derbyshire Leaders and volunteers following protocol as set out in the Community Sports Trust staff handbook

Partnerships

  1. Maintain existing internal and external partnerships to develop long lasting relationships, including internal
  2. Contribute to the objectives and targets of partner organisations, funders and local delivery organisations
  3. Develop new partnerships and links for the benefit of the project, including running clubs, schools, Local Authority Highways, and potential funders
  4. Recruit organisations to host Jog Derbyshire groups including community groups, clubs, workplaces, local authorities and schools
  5. Attend relevant partnership and networking meetings
  6. Ensure details of all partnerships are recorded and up-to-date

Finance

  1. Secure funding for the development of the Jog Derbyshire volunteer workforce and wider benefit of the project through existing means, such as coaching bursaries and small grants, and exploring new options linked to strategic plans
  2. Liaise with the Jog Derbyshire Project Manager on the identification and follow up of sponsorship opportunities with the private sector
  3. Liaise with the Jog Derbyshire Project Manager to ensure all forecast budgets are met and participate in annual budget setting cycle
  4. Contribute to the wider CST finance sustainability strategy

Methods of Working

  • The post holder will be expected to adopt a participative and collaborative style, working with existing and new partners to the Jog Derbyshire project.
  • The post holder will be expected to use appropriate management information systems, maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines.
  • The post holder will be expected to take an active part in appraising their own work priorities and targets in accordance with the Community Sports Trust management supervision guidelines.
