Highly motivated and hard working with strong experience gained in the retail and customer service. Thoroughly enjoy working in a team environment and always willing to learn new skills to help in personal and professional development. Currently in my second year at Portsmouth University studying Human Resource Management over a four-year period. Very comfortable dealing with members of the public and keen to continue working during my studies whilst at Portsmouth.

Staffing Assistant – Fun Events (June 2010 – July 2010)

During this period my initial summer placement was specifically to provide HR assistance at several large race meets throughout the events season. I worked as part of a small HR team that provided support and assistance to approx 3,000 temporary staff. My main duties were to address daily operational problems such as helping to locate employees that were in the wrong area, organising uniforms and providing payroll assistance. In addition, I regularly undertook staff searches and worked alongside the event-security to help prevent theft and other acts of dishonesty on a daily basis.

I particularly enjoyed having to engage with so many people from different countries and origins. Given I have been fortunate enough to live in other countries I believe this was a great help in my dealing with specific situations during my time at Fun Events. Based on my personal experience I feel I can adjust my behaviours to recognise and address some issues before they turn in to problems.

Sales Assistant – The Card Co (Oct 2007 Feb 2009)

I worked as a weekend Sales Assistant in The Card Co during a 17-month period and eventually had to resign in order to fully focus on my A Level studies. I received excellent support from the Company and gained various awards for applying the Customer Service principles that form part of their employee training and development programme.

During my time working at The Card Co I gained a broad and beneficial experience of dealing with members of the public and this certainly helped develop my understanding reference the importance of good customer service. I also had good experience of till work and handling money on a day-to-day basis.

Personal Interests

Having lived in Scotland, England and France I believe my communication skills and understanding of different cultures have largely affected my own life, as a result, I am very interested in learning about other cultures and nationalities.

I have always taken a keen interest in sports and in particular I enjoy running and compete in informal races regularly.
