OVERALL PURPOSE
To actively initiate, develop, deliver and evaluate an appropriate portfolio of grant applications that deliver the relevant grant making programmes to the standards required and within the appropriate local and national context.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.  Responsible as part of the Grants Team to encourage, proactively identify and assist prospective applicants to expand ideas into full applications for the relevant grant making programmes.
2.  To provide applicants with advice and support and analyse applications to ensure the integrity of applicants
3.  To assess all grant applications received in a timely manner to the quality standards required.
4.  Carry out mid and post-grant monitoring and evaluation visits to funded charities to ensure that funds are spent in accordance with the original grant, to develop a working relationship with charities and to inform future grant-making as a result of this work.
5.  To manage grant budgets within agreed financial resources and in support of the Foundation’s policies, mission and priorities.
6.  To be self-administrating on a day to day basis including communication with applicants, diary and work load management and database entry work.
7.  Actively participate, contribute and implement decisions in a timely manner from regular Peer Review and Grant managers meetings.
8.  Contribute as part of the Grants Team to the development of future grant making programmes and new ways of working.
9.  Responsible for the presentation of grant papers, recommendations and post meeting implementation at Peer Review and Grants panel meetings to the required standard to provide those meetings with appropriate information to make decisions
10.  To proactively develop and maintain an appropriate network of contacts both in the grant making sector and local voluntary and community sector, relevant to our mission and current grant making programmes to inform current and future working
11.  To actively communicate our mission and key grant making programmes and be an ambassador for the work of the Foundation demonstrating its values to relevant external stakeholders
12.  Provide cover for other Grants Managers and operate flexibly within the Grant Making Team to ensure a focus on excellent internal and external customer service is maintained.
13.  To actively ensure that the Foundations commitment to two way communications is effective, by reading and responding to all communications and by personally exhibiting open and effective communication practices in all day to day activities.
14.  Undertake other duties as may be reasonably required.
RELATIONSHIPS (INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL)
Main point of contact for all eligible applicants within area of responsibility
Develop and maintain positive working relationships within Grant making team
Initiate develop and maintain relevant relationships within the local grant making sector and the local voluntary and community sector
Regular contact with Grant Panel

Self-motivated and ability to work independently
Ability to quickly and accurately interpret and analyse a number of forms of information e.g. grant portfolios
Able to set up effective and efficient networks in area of operation
Able demonstrate sound judgement , as necessary depersonalizing a situation
Able to effectively participate provide feedback to others e.g. at peer review
Self-administration and ability to manage time effectively
Demonstrable and effective report writing ability
Able to demonstrate a commitment to personal development
IT literate including Microsoft office ie excel, powerpoint and word
Demonstrable experience of using complex databases for data input and to run reports

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE
Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience:
At least 2 years experience of assessing, monitoring and evaluating grants.
Budgetary control experience
Excellent knowledge of the local voluntary and community sector, particularly that part of it concerned with issues of social development
QUALIFICATIONS
Ideally educated to degree level and/or holding a relevant professional qualification or equivalent
