LLC ASSISTANT TO THE COORDINATOR

Reports directly to the Life Long Care Coordinator. Student will be encouraged to take initiative and to work with minimal supervision, particularly in situations of work-related or annual leave absences by LLC staff.

General Information

Title: Assistant to Coordinator, Life Long Care Program

Duration: 16 weeks

Start and End dates: May 18, 2009 to September 15, 2009

Language of work: English, but Aboriginal language an asset.

Qualifications

  • Currently undertaking education in the health and/or social service field; preference to students entering their 3rd or final year of studies
  • Excellent computer skills – WordPerfect, Microsoft Word; Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Preference will be given to a student of Aboriginal ancestry, or one who is familiar with the Aboriginal community, or has initiated volunteer experience with the program, or has experience in working with people with chronic illnesses and/or disabilities
  • Valid Driver’s License and private vehicle will be an asset
  • Provide Criminal Records Check

The incumbent will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Service delivery will be maintained in accordance with program practices-maintaining confidentiality and courtesy towards the target group.
  • Flow sheet statistics and daily diary will be maintained on a daily basis
  • To assist with the administrative tasks of the program.
  • To assist in delivery of program services to the vulnerable and frail elderly.
  • To carry out an Annual Client Satisfaction Survey, complete analysis and recommendations.
  • To carry out an Annual Client Intake Update.
  • Administration–answer and respond to telephone requests; photocopy; maintain record and narrative of services provided on daily basis; maintain currency of client records; utilize existing documents to carry out and analyze surveys and updates
  • Service delivery–call clients weekly; provide transportation as necessary; carry out friendly visiting; assist in organizing weekly on-site activities and day trips; respond to client inquiries for information/assistance; attend LLC/ONFC staff meetings and/or training as requested.
  • Other job related duties as assigned by the Coordinator
