PASTORAL WORKERS – THE WAY FORWARD.

The following people from the 3 church areas of Lixnaw, Irremore & Rathea have volunteered to help out as Pastoral Workers.

Rathea – Nora Healy, Brendan Callaghan, Ted Sweeney & Tom Dillon. Irremore Bill Kelly, Tony Carroll & Mary Barry.

Lixnaw – Paul Linehan, James O’Connor, Bridie Daly & Maria Conway. The role of the Pastoral Worker will really become effective when fewer if any priests will be available to carry out certain duties – that day is around the corner (Lixnaw are spoilt for choice with 2 priests. The stones on the road know that will not continue) . We have to prepare for the future and be ready. With immediate effect the Pastoral Worker will assist the Priest with the reception of remains into the church and hopefully in the future they will carry out this function themselves. In the Lixnaw section of the Parish the Pastoral Workers will lead a Eucharistic service, that is, Liturgy of the Word & distribution of Holy Communion commencing on Monday, June 10th & continuing through the Mondays of June & July. The priest will not be involved in this celebration.
