Living Obituary for Cassondra Desmonds

By: Ryan Owen

Prideful, driven, loving, and an ace on the bowling lanes are just a few words describing the life of Cassondra Desmonds. A former student from Ft. Wayne, Indiana, she arrived at Purdue University to study History. After some careful thought, she found her calling in sales; joining the retail management program in the CFS department. She was known for her skill in marketing, as well as her analytical thought geared towards consumer behavior. Setting high goals and standards, she dreamed of joining the corporate office at Abbott Nutrition, and to eventually complete grad school in consumer behavior. Despite her professional drive for excellence, friends and family described her as a very caring and warm individual. Her friends and family did not hesitate to describe her intrinsic thirst for knowledge, as well as her passion for building and improving her relationship with friends, family, and strangers. It is difficult to sum up a person’s life and accomplishments, but few possessed such a dynamic personality.

Cassondra was always a very busy and involved person. She might have been most known for her love of 15 years, bowling. When she wasn’t personally working on her form in the Purdue Bowling club, she was representing the ISUSBCYA (Indiana State United States Bowling Congress Youth Association). Her love for life on the bowling lanes led to another opportunity; touching other people’s hearts. Cassondra was thoroughly involved in coaching the youth bowlers of Indiana; trying to better herself and others. Making a difference in someone’s life was an inspiration to Cassondra. Her selfless attitude inspired the young bowling students she tended to during her career; impacting the lives of everyone who hit a strike thanks to her teaching.

Waking up each morning was never a struggle for Cassondra. With every new morning, she believed there was an opportunity to build strengths in people (and herself) where she thought there could be improvement. She always tried to find inspiration in her daily activities. Cassondra was more then just a classmate, daughter, and bowling partner. Cassondra was a way of life, and a spirit, that she tried to inspire in other people. Prideful, driven, loving, and an ace on the bowling lanes; she was loved, and will be missed, by those hearts she touched.
