LeonardVictorWatersMemorial Park, NSW
This Park was named in recognition of Leonard Victor Waters being the first and only Aboriginal fighter pilot in World War II.
It wasofficially opened on Thursday, 24 October, 1996 by Councillor M. A. Montgomery Mayor. Moree Plains Shire Council. / 117 Merriwa Street, Boggabilla, NSW 2409.
Memorial at the Returned and Services League (RSL) Narooma
The Memorial is a dedication to Indigenous and non-Indigenous servicemen and women who fought alongside in defence of our Nation. / Princes Highway, Narooma, South Coast NSW.
The Aboriginal Memorial on Mt Ainslie
At the base of Mt Ainslie (across the road from the back of the Australian War Memorial) is RemembranceNaturePark, a small area named in 1978 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Armistice that ended the First World War. Parts of the area have also been dedicated to several Australian soldiers, with their stories displayed. There are many walking tracking tracks to follow to view these displays. The Aboriginal Memorial Plaque is situated near the bottom of the Kokoda Track. The track is steep at times, and has some stairs. / Behind the Australian War Memorial Mt Ainslie Drive, Majura, ACT.
BurleighHeadsNational Park Yugambeh Aboriginal Memorial Rock, QLD
An ancient bora ring (sacred initiation ground) with a large rock. The rock features tribal totem paintings and an inscription.
The inscription reads:
“This rock is placed here to honour Yugambeh men and women who served in defence of this country. Yugambeh is the linguistic name of the Aboriginal people whose tribal region extends inland from the Logan and Nerang rivers and includes the areas covered by all the adjacent streams and creeks. Yugambeh family groups include Kombumerri, Wangeribubba, Migunburri, Munajahli, Gugigin, Birinburra and others. We honour those who served in the armed forces and those who made the supreme sacrifice. The symbolism of this rock serves to highlight the role played by Indigenous Australians in defence of this country."
The war memorial was erected by the Komburri Aboriginal Corporation for Culture with support and assistance from the Gold Coast City Council on April 21, 1991. / In BurleighHeadNational Park (Gold Coast, Queensland) 90km south of Brisbane.
KingsPark Indigenous Anzac Memorial, Launceston
The second Anzac memorial for Indigenous people is in KingsPark, Launceston, Tasmania. The memorial plaque carries the Rising Sun and Tri Services Badge emblems and reads: “Proudly dedicated in recognition of the Tasmanian Aborigines who served or fell in the defence of their country 1901 - 1999”. / KingsPark, Launceston Tasmania.
Aboriginal War Memorial Sculpture, NSW
A plaque cites words by Aboriginal Captain Reginald Saunders, the first Aboriginal commissioned officer, who fought at the Battle of Kapyong, Korea, in 1951: On Anzac eve we dug in among friends. At last I felt like an Anzac, and imagine there were 600 other like me.
Saunders was born on the Framingham Aboriginal Reserve, in Victoria, on 7 August 1920. Aged 20 he enlisted as a soldier, leaving the army in 1954. Before his death in 1990 he worked as a liaison officer

Aboriginal Memorial, East Victoria Park, WA
An RSL Aboriginal memorial consists of a black granite rock with a memorial nameplate and a flagpole flying the Aboriginal flag. The memorial is dedicated to the memory of the Aboriginal service men and women of the Victoria Park District who served their country in its hours of need. In doing so they helped to build a Nation.
Dedicated 3rd February, 2002.

Memorial Wall at Karrakatta Cemetery, WA
The memorial wall commemorates Aboriginal servicemen killed in conflict and buried overseas during World Wars I and II.
The memorial wall was unveiled in January 2012 and is located in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Keeping Place at KarrakattaCemetery. The Keeping Place is a purpose-designed building holding the skeletal remains of Aboriginal people previously stored in museums around the State and the country. / Located in Karrakatta, west of PerthWA
Aboriginal (Yolngu) Soldiers Memorial, NT
A memorial for Aboriginal soldiers is in Yirrkala, Northern Territory, to commemorate the Yolngu men who served in northern Australia as part of the Northern Territory Special Reconnaissance Unit during World War II.
The Northern Territory Special Reconnaissance Unit
Established in 1941 by anthropologist Donald Thompson, this unique Army Unit was engaged to patrol the coastal area of Northern Australia and provide early warning of Japanese attack during World War II. Up to 50 tribal Yolngu men from East Arnhem Land served, using traditional bushcraft and fighting skills to patrol the coastal area and establish coastwatchers. This unit was mobile, lived off the country and used traditional weapons. / The War Memorial is located at Yirrkala in the Northern Territory.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Servicemen and women Memorial, Hyde Park NSW
A monument to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service men and women will be prominently placed in Sydney’s Hyde Park South as the first state war memorial for Indigenous soldiers in NSW.

ANZACMemorial Park, QLD
ANZACMemorial Park was established as a place for local residents to recognise and support ANZAC day. With Commonwealth Government financial assistance, the Thursday Island RSL and local families worked together to build a memorial in the park which lists all the names of those who served in the Torres Strait Light Infantry Battalion. / Douglas Street, Thursday Island, NQLD 4875
WimmeraMalleeMuseum, Knowledge and Tourism, VIC
BARENGI Gadjin Land Council is planning a multi-million-dollar indigenous cultural centre in the Wimmera.
The 30-hectare centre, to be called the WimmeraMalleeMuseum, Knowledge and Tourism, will include historic indigenous artifacts and contemporary art, an Aboriginal war memorial and a section dedicated to farming in the Wimmera.
As at 2014 centre is still under development.

MARRANGBAHCOTTAGEMEMORIALGARDEN, NSW
Marrangbah collage comes under the umbrella of Biripi Aboriginal Medical Service. The Aboriginal specific memorial garden is to acknowledge Aboriginal families and to honour and pay respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Veterans. The garden has a circular pathway with a bridge uniting the two sides. Around the pathway are plant boxes with three flag poles, upon which proudly fly the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Australian flags. There are two paved circular designs, a plaque which holds the name of the garden, along with the names of the Elders who opened the garden, and on another is a commemorative plaque which holds the names of Aboriginal Veterans.
In the garden, there are planted flowers, bush tucker plants and vegetables that can be accessed by the community, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal. / Marrangbah Cottage (also known as Biripi Aged & Community Services) is located at 151 Manning River Drive, Taree NSW.
