‘being in good Health, and of a sound and disposing Mind Memory and Understanding, Thanks be given unto God ...... Principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the Hands of God who gave it, and for my Body I recommend it to the Earth, whenever it shall please God to call for me, to be buried in a Christian-like and decent Manner, at the Discretion of my Executrix, nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty Power of God. And as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life I give and dispose of the same in the following Manner and Form’
-  to son-in-law John King, 1 shilling
-  to grand-daughter Frances Rippon, 1 shilling
-  to son-in-law Charles Paull, 1 shilling
-  to ‘dear’ wife Frances Jenkin all the rest and residue of the estate. ‘And my will is that my said Wife, in whom I confide, shall not needlessly consume my Effects but be careful of the same and not give more to one of our children than to another, but shall act with good Conscience honestly and equally towards all’
-  After wife’s death whatever remains of the estate should be divided into eight equal ‘parts or shares’. The testator’s sons Anthony, John and William are to have two shares each and his daughters Frances and Elizabeth one share each
