Lion Kevin Steinke, President:

Please stay as involved with those Lion activity functions that you can. Board meetings are scheduled on the second Thursday prior to our club meeting and will be held at the community cabin at 5pm. We always love to see you at the meetings to share our fellowship in good times and even in those difficult times. “WE DO IT BETTER TOGETHER”.

Guest Speaker: Please welcome Gwen Botting,Director at Opportunities Unlimited for the Blind. Her responsibilities include creating the vision for our camps and services for children who are blind or visually impaired and their families. Marketing and fund development, donor relationship building, online presence, program development, staff and camper recruitment, family relationship building, managing all administrative functions, supervision of staff, and directing all camp functions.

Dinner:Thank you to Lion Joan Heinz who has prepared our meal this week. Lions Joan and Warren will cook October 27th. Lion David Krupp has reserved November 10th meeting. January is the next month to volunteer to cook is. The budget is not to exceed $150 with a $50 stipend.

White Cane/Candy Days Weekend

Friday and Saturday, October 14-15. Hopefully we can continue toward our goal of $10,000 in 10 years. Last year, our 4th year,we collected $6,300. You will be able to sign up at our meeting with Lion Warren or

Rockford Harvest Fest 2016: Lion Tom VonEschen will give an update for this year’s event and some thoughts and ideas for next year.

Projects Night: Thursday, October 20th, at English Hills Terrace located at 5179 West River Drive in Comstock Park. Full course dinner and your cost is just $11.00 with a cash bar. Hospitality and exhibits begin at 6:00pm with dinner at 7:00pm.

Awards Night: Lets recognized some of our outstanding Lions who received an award at our last meeting. Immediate Past President Ron received a beautiful “thank you clock” for two years served. Lion Karl Koivisto was presented with Lion of the Year, which is such an incredible honor by your peers. Chevrons recognition pins were presented to Lions Chad Jackson and Jack Wilson for 10 year membership, Larry Lindsley and Jim Benson 15 years and Joe Rossi for 30 year lion membership.

October is Lions Membership Month in Michigan

Membership ribbons are now available in purple and silver. Wear your ribbons together until you sponsor a new member. The new member will receive your purple ribbon, and you will continue to wear your platinum ribbon. Ribbons act as a “reminder” to talk about membership with others. Ribbons are available through your District Governor scheduled as our guest speaker for Octtober 27th.
