English Schools 2nd Round

Yr 7/8 – 3rd in B League Final

Yr5/6 - Runners-up in A League Final

Yr6 Girls Team – 3rd in District Championships

Y7 Girls Team - District Champions

Yr 7 Relay Team – District Champions

Individual District Champion – Amy Bailey

70m Hurdles ( New District Record Holder)

Badminton

·  Yr 7 & 8 Girls Winners District competition and Level 3 County Competition. Played against Sharnbrook year 9 winners to decide who progressed to Regional round. Sharnbrook won and will continue to next round.

Individual Achievement: Indira Sundar, Yr 7 - selection onto County Badminton Squad

Basketball

Yr7 Girls & Yr8 Girls – U12 & U13 Bedford & District Winners. Both teams qualified to the County Finals.

Cricket

Year 8 girls received indoor cricket coaching during their option lessons. This led on to entering The Lady Taverner’s Indoor Competition in March. Following this they finished 3rd at the District Kwik Cricket Competition held in June.

Cross Country

·  Year 5 Girls ‘A’ team won the Newnham XC and the ‘B’team was second.

·  Bedfordia Competition. Year 5 & 6 ‘A’ team won and the ‘B’ team placed fourth. Year 7 ‘A’ team won and the ‘B’ team was 7th overall.

·  District Year 6 & 7 team winners.

·  Swanbourne XC relays. Year 6 team finished 3rd.

·  Rowney Warren XC Relays year 5 & 6 girls team won overall.

·  Schools XC League Year 5 & 6 girls overall winners.

Cycling

The Women’s Cycle Tour came to Bedford one very wet day in May. Our year 7 & 8 girls enjoyed a fantastic experience watching the finish of the tour on the embankment and participating in finish line & mountain bike races. We even got on the radio!

Gymnastics 2014 Regional Schools Acrobatics Championships

·  Gold Medalists U11 women’s pairs Lanais P-L-Wallace and Lara Dalton. GOOD LUCK AT THE NATIONAL FINAL. Finished 5th at the National Finals in May.

Tag Rugby

·  Year 6 mixed tag team won the Partnership tournament and progressed to the Level 3 County tournament held in Luton at the Winter School Games where they finished 2nd overall. The team played in the National Final held at Rugby school and where they finished 10th out of 24 teams in the competition.

Rounders

·  Year 7 finished 3rd at the District Rounders Tournament and played at the Summer School Games to represent North Beds finishing 2nd to Arnold.

·  Year 8 Mixed Rounders finished 2nd at the District Tournament. They also played at the Summer school Games representing North Beds.

·  Year 6 Mixed Rounders represented North Beds at the Level 3 County Final to finish 3rd overall.

Swimming

·  1 individual qualified for the Level 3 County Winter Games to represent Bedford.

·  Swimming coaching session at Bedford pool in preparation for entry National Schools Aquathon.

Other High lights so far

·  16 Pupils attended Super League fixture at Hatfield Sports Village : Mavericks v Team Bath (48-49!) A very exciting afternoon. A few lost voices, autographs & souvenir photos taken with many of the England players.

·  (28-30th March) JCA Weekend Residential Netball Tournament – Condover Hall ( U12 & U13s)

·  Lydia Greenway visit to school. England middle order cricketer. Led an aspirational assembly and 3 coaching sessions with the girls.

·  16 pupils watched the final of the Football World Cup in Birmingham.

Coaching received in curriculum and extra-curricular time

·  Year 8 Advanced tag Rugby with Dave Marshall (RFU)

·  Year 7 tag rugby with Georgia Gulliver (England no.9)

·  Hockey coaching all years with Claire Higginson at the Hockey centre on Thursday after school.

·  Year 8 Cricket with Will Sneath. Leading on to our first entry in the Lady Taverners Indoor Cricket.

Young leaders trained and used in Key stage 1 & 2 Sports festivals hosted at Lincroft. This year 49 Year 8 girls and 28 year 7 girls have been involved as young sports leaders.

House Matches - 16 competitions have been completed so far this year.
