Lincoln Higher Education Research Awards
We are offeringa number of research awards to a maximum of £750.00 each, primarily for research focused on key issues within higher education and reflected in the University’s Strategic Plan, typically this may include;
- Interdisciplinarity and interprofessional education
- 24/7 campus
- Technology enhanced learning / digital engagement
- Resilience in higher education
- Supporting confidence in students
- Collaboration and partnership approaches
- Inclusivity
However, these themes are broad and submissions outside of these themes will not be discounted.

Applications close at midnight on 2nd October, all bids will be peer reviewed and we aim to advise all applicants as to the outcome of their submission by 27th October 2017

Research Fellow – Grade 7, 26 hours per week fixed term to July 2019
Research Assistant – Grade 6, 18 hours per week, fixed term to July 2019
Launch Event 13th September
We are holding a launch event in the Orange Room, Think Tank on 13th September which will be made up of 2 sessions with a networking lunch between. The morning session, open by Deputy Vice Chanceller, Toby Wilkinson, will introduce and promote the work of both LHERI and our fellows and a number of colleagues’ research into contemporary issues in higher education. Colleagues will then be available to answer questions and discuss their work further during a long lunch for networking and sharing practice.The afternoon session will be held by the Research Office.

Seminar Series
We are developing a series of seminars with a mix of internal and external facilitators. The first will take place on 12th October:

This event will be held on the Brayford Pool Campus, room to be confirmed.
Further seminars will take place in February, April and June 2018 and details will be included on future newsletters. We are currently in talks with an interesting external facilitator for February’s seminar, do look out for details.
E-Journal for Higher Education Research
We have formed a small working group to initiate a Lincoln Higher Education Research Online Journal and are hoping to be ready to call for submissions as the beginning on the 2017-18 academic year.

Access Agreement Evaluation Project
As detailed above, following confirmation of funding for this project we are hiring two research posts for this project.
Developing Academic Leadership and Innovative Practice
This Programme Leader development pilot project is led by the Human Resources Department at Lincoln (Ros Pepper, Head of Human Resources and Rebecca Sanderson, Organisational Development Advisor) with the Lincoln Higher Education Research Institute providing support and guidance throughout the project. The project is in its initial stages following successful ethical approval.
Intervention for Success Project
Ben Walker from Sheffield College has joined Alison Wilkinson to initiate this HEFCE funded project in collaboration with Huddersfield, Coventry and Manchester Metropolitan Universities. The core focus of this work has been driven by the 2015 HEFCE report ‘Causes of Differences in Student Outcomes’
Learning Gain Project
Continuing students have now received a link to the GetSet survey in their enrolment materials. The Learning Gain Project Team have also submitted a paper for inclusion in the Higher Education Pedagogies Journal.
NCOP LiNCHigher Project
Dr. Rob Vickers, Research Fellow, has joined us to lead the local evaluation of this collaborative project working closely with Bishop Grosseteste University. The LiNCHigher team are now delivering activities in all of the national collaborative outreach programme (NCOP) Gaps Areas and evaluation will be embedded in upcoming events. The team are also currently working with CFE research to pilot the national NCOP Participant Survey.
