Charter Board Policy on School Uniforms

 At Lincoln Charter School, students are required to wear the school uniform as detailed below. (Sleeveless shirts, shirts/sweaters/sweatshirts with hoods or open toed shoes are not allowed. Students are not permitted to wear their club t-shirts during the school day.)

 Students are expected to dress in the proper uniform attire. It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure compliance with the dress code. All students who attend the Lincoln Charter School must be in uniform at all times. All students will wear the designated school uniform clothing. The clothing may not be altered by slits, shredded hems, etc.

 Students are permitted to wear shirts with the Lincoln emblem as part of the uniform.

 The uniform shall be:

Boys – A solid navy blue or white shirt with a collar. No logos except Lincoln Charter School on the shirt. This may be a “polo” shirt, dress shirt, or turtleneck, but not a T-shirt. Solid khaki/tan pants or shorts with no logos or insignias.

Girls – A solid navy blue or white blouse with a collar. No logos except Lincoln Charter School on the shirt. This may be a “polo” shirt, dress shirt, or turtleneck but not a T-shirt. Solid khaki/tan pants, shorts, skirt/skort, or jumper with no logos or insignias.

Outerwear – Navy blue or white sweaters without hoods, or navy blue or white sweatshirts without hoods. All overcoats and jackets must be removed at the time of entering the building.

Footwear – Sneakers are permitted. No open toed shoes, boots, opened heeled shoes, or wheeled shoes. Wheeled shoes may not be worn unless the wheel is removed and the cap is in place.

 Denim, sweat pants, wind suits, and athletic type shorts are not permitted.

 All shirts must be worn tucked in at all times unless the garment has a banded hem.

 No undergarments may show. Girls may wear shorts under their skirts provided they do not show.

 No hats or head coverings of any type may be worn inside of building unless worn for religious reasons.

 For safety reasons, students should wear shoes that cover the foot completely. Flip flops, slippers, and bare feet are not acceptable.

 Any color socks may be worn, although a dark sock is suggested. Full- length tights and knee-high socks/tights acceptable for girls.

 Students who repeatedly fail to dress in accordance with this Dress Code may be subject to disciplinary actions to be set forth in the Policy Manual.

 All buttons, jewelry, and other accessories, which contain vulgar, lewd, obscene, or plainly offensive messages or which suggest the use of alcohol or drugs and accessories which make reference to or identify gangs, are not allowed.

Uniform Violation Consequences

Any student reporting to school without the appropriate uniform will not be permitted to remain in their classroom. The student will be sent to Culture and Climate. Contact home will be made for the parent to bring the student the proper uniform. If the parent cannot be contacted, or refuses to bring a uniform for their child, the student will be supplied with a loaner uniform (if available) to be returned at the end of the instructional day.

The homeroom teacher will write a violation for the student each day the student is out of uniform. A copy of that violation will be kept by the teacher, a second copy will be sent to the office and the third copy will be sent home with the child.

All Consequences for Uniform Violations will be at the discretion of the Culture and Climate Team.

Possible consequences of non-uniform compliance are as follows:

 Phone call home

 After 3 uniform violations, the student will be referred to the lead teacher.

 After the 4th uniform violation, the student will be sent to the lead teacher and/or office and assigned detention after school.
