Role Purpose: / To act as an effective member of the Communications & Marketing Team, supporting colleagues, liaising with programmes, and implementing agreed strategy.
To take particular responsibility for sourcing case studies and other stories: researching, writing up and placing as required.
To lead on day to day proactive and reactive press office function, supporting and briefing the CEO and Senior Management Team (SMT) in advance of key events, speeches and media interviews.
To help plan and implement a confident, proactive, nimble and effective media strategy.
To be responsible for: liaising with colleagues across the Foundation in order to ensure the effective and timely two-way flow of information; developing and maintaining effective working relationships across a wide range of stakeholders and media.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Particular to this post:

  • Planning publicity strategies and campaigns, working closely with Foundation colleagues as appropriate to ensure strong and effective plans and results.
  • Identifying, researching and writing up case studies and stories around key themes and programmes of work.
  • Using the above content proactively for media, social media, marketing, and publications as appropriate, in an integrated way.
  • Working to and helping to develop a confident, proactive, nimble, planned and effective media strategy.
  • Leading the press office function, liaising with journalists andworkingwith the CEO, SMT and other relevant colleagues to coordinate responses to media enquiries.
  • Writing and planning news and feature articles in the media. Both proactively and reactively and advising on press issues at other events and activities.
  • Supporting the CEO, SMT and others by researching and producing briefings (and occasionally presentations) in advance of speeches, media interviews etc.
  • Speaking publicly at interviews, press conferences and presentations.
  • Providing internal clientswithinformation about new promotional opportunities and current PR campaigns progress.
  • Supporting or leading on reporting on success internally.

2.5To work creatively with a range of different stakeholders to promote and enhance the work of the Foundation.

2.6Comply with all financial and employment regulations and procedures.

3. General

  • To work co-operatively with Foundation personnel, including providing cover during absence as maybe requested by the Line Manager or other delegated personnel.
  • Fulfil the requirements of the Foundation’s equal opportunities policy and procedures and implement good principles and practices within the context of the job, daily.
  • To undertake any other duties as appropriate that are commensurate with the post as may be determined from time to time by the Line Manager, or above.
  • It should be understood that this job description may change as the Foundation develops following discussion and agreement with the post holder. The post holder will have full opportunity to discuss and be active in changes or developments.
