Prayer Service in St. Matthew’s

Light candle – The candle reminds us that God is with us

All sing- Be Still and Know that I am God

Be still and know that I am God,
be still and know that I am God,
be still and know that I am God.
I am the Lord that healeth thee,
I am the Lord that healeth thee,
I am the Lord that healeth thee.
In thee, O Lord, I put my trust,
In thee, O Lord, I put my trust,
In thee, O Lord, I put my trust.

Opening Prayer:

We can all remember special times in our life and these are called memories. We all have both sad and happy memories. The sharing of memories is an important part of family, church, school and community life. We all have memories of Mrs McCafferty. Let’s take a moment to think about these.

Our memories are sacred and Holy. They come from God.

Reading:

A reading from a letter of Saint Paul (based on 1 Thessalonians4; 13-18)

All sing:

Bind Us Together Lord

Refrain
Bind us together, Lord, Bind us together
With cords that cannot be broken.
Bind us together, Lord,
Bind us together,
Bind us together with love.

There is only one God,
There is only one King;
There is only one Body,
That is why we sing:
Refrain

Bind us together, Lord, Bind us together. . .

Made for the glory of God,
Purchased by His precious Son;
Born with the right to be clean,
For Jesus the victory has won.
Refrain

Bind us together, Lord, Bind us together. . .

You are the family of God,
You are the promise divine;
You are God’s chosen desire,
You are the glorious new wine.

Refrain

Bind us together, Lord, Bind us together. . .

Let us pray:

The lord be with you – and with your spirit…..

We pray today for Mrs McCafferty, that she is rewarded for her love and dedication through life by a place beside our Father in heaven Lord hear us

We pray for the friends and family of Mrs McCafferty that they are comforted by the knowledge that she will share in the eternal life promised by Jesus. Lord hear us

We pray for the community and family of St. Matthew’s Primary that they receive comfort in the happy memories that they share of Mrs McCafferty and the love and care they show for each other. Lord Hear Us

Now let us pray together the words that Jesus taught us,

Confident in the fact that one day we will all be together in His house.

Our Father………

Eternal Rest…….

May her soul……..

All sing:

Though the Mountains May Fall

Though the mountains may fall

And the hills turn to dust,

yet the love of the Lord will stand

as a shelter for all

who will call on his name.

Sing the praise and the glory of God.

Could the Lord ever leave you?

Could the Lord forget his love?

Though the mother forsake her child,

he will not abandon you.

Should you turn and forsake him,

he will gently call your name.

Should you wander away from him,

he will always call you back.

Go to him when your weary;

he will give you eagle’s wings.

You will run, never tire,

for your God will be your strength.
