Note from the Pastor:

Redeemed - gain or regain possession of something in exchange for payment

As the old hymn goes; “In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so

divine, A wondrous beauty I see, For ‘twas on that old cross Jesus suffered

and died, To pardon and sanctify me. So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,

till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And

exchange it some day for a crown.” What a glorious thing to be redeemed!

When you redeem something how do you look upon it? Do you look

at it with disgust? Disappointment? Shame? Of course not! You redeemed it

for a reason, it has a purpose for you, and if it’s really special then it brings

joy to your heart. So then, why do we look upon ourselves with such loathsome thoughts? Do you not know that you have been redeemed with the most

precious things of all, the blood of Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God?

No longer do you have to live in shame and filth but you can live with peace

and joy. No longer are you defined by your actions, by what you have done

or not done, you are now defined by what God has done for you. The God of

this universe saw fit to redeem you back to Himself, He saw something in

you that was worth it all, and now we get to live in that redemption.

For the month of June we will be remembering some of the Bible

stories to talk about God’s redeeming work. Our God is the same yesterday,

today, and forever which means He is continuing to redeem even you, even

me. Amazing! I hope to see you there!

Psalms 31:1‭-‬5 ESV

In you, O Lord, do I take refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your

righteousness deliver me! Incline your ear to me; rescue me speedily! Be a

rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me! For you are my rock and

my fortress; and for your name's sake you lead me and guide me; you take

me out of the net they have hidden for me, for you are my refuge. Into your

hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God.

Blessings, Geoff
