Update your Library details in the Gateway

The aim of this form is to collect information about your library for inclusion in the Australian Libraries Gateway (ALG).

It is ONLY for use by libraries unable to access the online update forms. To use the online update forms, you will need a Word Wide Web (WWW) browser (eg Netscape or Internet Explorer) which supports JavaScript 1.1 and is Cookie-enabled.

The Australian Libraries Gateway allows individual libraries to include information about a wide range of collections and services. Not all of the available fields for information will be applicable to all libraries so please fill in as much as is relevant to your library and simply leave the others blank. Please attach additional pages if you need extra space for your information.

Please note that some items are marked with *asterisks* to indicate that they are essential for the creation of an entry on ALG. This is basic information which is critical for maximising the usefulness and success of the Gateway.

Once completed, fax or return the following pages (no stamp required) to the address below. When we receive the information from you, the National Library will make these changes to your library's entry on the Gateway. Just let us know if and when further changes need to be made, or if you need a password to use the online update facilities to update your entry yourself.

6.Subject collecting information

Highlights of the collection: One of the features of the Australian Libraries Gateway is the provision of information about the depth of a library's collection across different subject areas. For example, you could include strong collections which only make up a portion of a subject; chronological or geographic strengths; specialised collections; holdings of unique materials; or relative strengths in Australiana. Or, you could use this field to indicate geographic or chronological exclusions from the collection, or gaps in acquisitions over a particular period by the Library. These comments are searchable. (NB. character limit of 1000)

…………………………………………………………………………………..

…………………………………………………………………………………..

…………………………………………………………………………………..

…………………………………………………………………………………..

…………………………………………………………………………………..

…………………………………………………………………………………..

Libraries can also include detailed subject collecting level information on the Gateway. You need to assign collecting levels for your Library to appear in the search results for a subject search.

If you are interested in receiving information about the tools available to help with collection assessment and recording of collection depth information, please tick the box below.
