1. Take one minute to write definitions for as many of these terms as possible
2. Take one minute to collaborate with a partner and write as many more definitions as possible.
3. I will play a song. In the duration of the song, walk around the room and collaborate with your classmates to fill in the rest of your definitions. Sit down when all your definitions are filled in or when the song ends.

Notes for TIP/SAP:
- First, whole class review of claim, counterclaim, and rebuttal. There will be various topics written on the whiteboards around the room. In groups, students will pick a topic and make a claim about the topic. Then, groups will rotate around the room. They will develop a counterclaim for the claim on the board they have rotated to. Then, they will do the same thing with rebuttal. 1-2 groups will share out at the end of the activity.
- Then, distribute article packets to students. Explain that all the articles deal with one topic, which students will be writing an argumentative paragraph about. Students will have time in class to begin reading the articles and brainstorming a possible claim.
