Druker Office of Community Engagement
Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it. Marian Wright Edelman

What is Community Engagement?

Community engagement is a teaching method which combines community integration and application with academic instruction as it focuses on critical, reflective thinking and civic responsibility. Community engagement programs involve students in organized community work that addresses local needs, while developing academic skills, civic responsibility, and commitment to the community. /

Lewiston Auburn College’s (LAC)

Druker Office of Community Engagement (DOCE)
The Druker Office of Community Engagement sets a unique standard as a student-faculty collaboratively led office coordinating LAC’s multi-tiered community engagement work, including programming for community enrichment; coordination of engagement learning projects; building community relationships; and contributing vigorously to the growing assets, diversity and richness of the community. In addition to coordinating and supervising many of the nearly 50 different community engagement projects LAC may have going on in a semester, the DOCE organizes multiple community events and provides education, consultation and a place for discussion for our community partners.
